There aren't exactly a ton of cars running around with that kit, which doesn't provide me with a whole lot of comfort.

I have to agree on that. I thought I would want to build my engine and turn the boost up but really going over 550whp on this platform is going backwards. I think going over that and you just lose the drivability of the car. If you want a car with over 500-550whp then make sure its AWD or its just a waste.

Exactly, what good is 650+WHP if you can't even get the wheels to stick? You just make for a good smoke cloud. :ugh2:

Give me streetable power any day.

Thats not true.. are you talking about the RWD platform? Or just the Z period?

Because of your talking about traction issues with RWD being the problem then what about all those 600-1000whp supras and or mustangs?

The Z is by far the hardest RWD car I have had problems launching with. Its so hard being consistent with this car as he never bites the same way for some reason. Low end .... yes spinning will be is issue with any FWD or RWD car but on the freeway top end.....:driving:

If I could do it again.... I'd get an Evo X but I just didn't want another 4 banger

just ramp in the boost!!! very common practice, boost climbs as speed climbs! 1st gear 450rwhp is totaly useable, 2nd gear 500 is good, and so on

also, properly align your car, it makes all the difference! Take out all the camber in the back so it can hook up. I dont track my car so I dont notice any difference in handling all though I will say it looks stupid with no camber in the rear. I have considered a dual alignment, by putting marks on the adjustable arms at 2 alignment specs so I can roll under there and change it back and forth in 10 min any time i want.

Had it... it was a lot of fun, but the cheapness of the inside of the car REALLY wears on you after a while. The Z is SOOOOO much nicer inside and just in general.... and a lot of the people who are running the 600-1000 whp set-ups many times are just doing it to see how much power they can get, or they are going in straight lines... which takes all the fun out of what the Z was actually made for.

The same goes for the Evo's... really 350 whp on an Evo is MORE than enough to find a nice track and just get through all of the twists and just in general use the car for what it was intended.

Having a TT Z is cool no doubt, but at the end of the day, it's just to say you have a TT Z that runs 10's or 11's... ok now what? Don't people get tired of just going in a straight line after a while?

Methodical4u 09-09-2011 01:22 PM

Anyway, I just wanted to find out if with the current mods out there if the car would run 11's totally NA... if it won't, no big deal. I much more enjoy feeling the handling of the car with a little extra power.

IMO I don't get tired of it. The purpose of the thread is to see how fast you can go in the 1/4. I like the track b/c it's safer, cheaper, and legal to see what our cars can do. I hope we do get our car into the 11's one day, hey you never know it could be me that does it.:driving::tup:

I thought you said you had never run the 1/4 before?

Only twice ever in my life and it was my 370zfavor that I did it in. Stock on stock tires, 13.4 at 105. With a shitty 60fter.

All 'records' will eventually be broken. I've been in drag racing since forever, and there are real limitations usually constricted by current technology, but more significantly, by not thinking or experimenting out of the box.

9 times out of 10 the guys who create new standards look at aspects no one else has explored.

Let's drag this thread up someday in the near future and have a laugh! :D

IIRC he pulled as low as 1.80 on his 12.24 pass. And he did that w/ a busted rear diff mount too. :icon17:

The best I've pulled is 1.86 w/ the stock potenzas. But soon I'll have a set of RE-11's, just in time for winter. :driving:

I would have to agree. There isn't too much more he can do to his car to make it faster. Maybe one or two more modifications but not enough to run 11.9xx IMO.
