New 370ZNismo TT Trap Speed World Record
Today I took my GTM TT Nismo to Island Raceway today. Mind you it was 85 to 90 degrees out and I did a 11.7 @ 127MPH. I plan to go back when its cooler out because it was just to hot today. I'm hoping with the cooler weather maybe in the 60s the car will trap 130MPH. Btw this is all on the stock block. There ill be a vid and a time slip in a little while. I'm also pretty sure I can def go faster han 11.7. The tires I was on were Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s.

nicely done sir. sounds like the RE11s hold up pretty good. I mount mine tomorrow!:driving:

Nice!!! With some slicks and cold temps I think low 11's are in your future. Keep up the good work.
|
Thanks guys. The RE11s do hold up very very well. You won't be disappointed with them trust me. I'm def shooting for low 11s wen it gets cooler out.
|
A great time by all measures. A fantastic trap speed as well. Really moving.
This is a manual trans? Fuel? Boost? Let's read that time card. I'm impressed. Coop |
good work jeff.
hes got a manual (its a nismo) idk what fuel... i think 10lbs, but we'll let him chime in. |
Awesome, congrats
|
Heard you were in there on saturday getting the car tweaked... guess it was for the better!! Id love to check this car out in person, Im mad I always miss you there on saturdays and stuff...
also, did you end up keeping those coilovers? |
Was that your white Nismo I saw at PM last weekend (July 2nd)?
|
127! nice...thats a low 11, high 10 car with a 1.70 60ft or lower

It's a Nismo 6 speed manual |
Hey guys srry I've been busy at work. Like Squeeze said its a Nismo 6spd that run was on 12psi with 93oct/100 mix. I'm def happy with the trap speed but I want to hit 130mph. We def gotta link up Chuck wenever you go up there on a Saturday let me know. Id like to give a big thanks to Performance Motorsport for getting my car to run flawlessly that day and every other day I'm tearing it up = ) . The tune is spot on and I have to thank Drew for that one. But sadly I'm not done. Once the cooler weather hits I will be back out there looking for a low 11sec pass at 130. So let's make this happen. The 370Z is def a forced to be reconed with, with F.I.
|
Ill be posted up a speedo shot on 12psi jus so you can see how she moves = )
|
wowzers! That's fast. You do anything to make the car lighter OP?
|
Nice: It's even more impressive. Absolutely a stone off the line with a 1.15" 60" time. 98mph in the eighth, and by then it's starting to really pull hard.
You do need slicks. Others: I would not forecast 10's so quickly, although I wouldn't rule that out. Just having traction won't sort that out. It WILL, however, attempt to find a breaking point; drivetrain, clutch, gears, pistons, etc. (Speaking from experience with my STI) I'd love to be proven wrong. I'm pleased for you. Walk softly, carry that big stick. :D Coop |
Um not really just took the spare and tools out.
|
I'll say it again, that's one hell of a trap speed! There's a lot of potential there.
Just needs some traction, its too bad the track officials will probably tell you go home once you do get some good traction. |

Next time you take it to the strip remove the rear wing. That will likely be good for some extra speed.
|
Yeah ill probably add light weight seats in the future. As for breaking stuff, on slicks I don't think the rear end will hold up to any hard launches. The clutch and tranny can take the abuse fine. The piston well I'm not sure, my torque is right at 400 so it should be okay I hope, I don't run that high boost all the time so hopefully she will hold up until I build her.
|
Very impressive. Yea you got to watch the rear axle's on hard launches and high HP.
|
Jeff can you go on a Wednesday evening to e town or Tuesday to atco once it gets cooler ? Well go early if possible and let your car cool and well swap wheels half way through...
I'm trying to run my mid 12 which i def will do next time. I need to learn to launch better though, but with your power and my et streets you will pull a 1.8 60 at the worst which will drop you .5 in the 1/4 not to mention you won't spin second or third like I'm sure you are now. I want to pull a low 1.8x 60. You should be able to get a 1.7x which would net you a 10 second pass in cooler weather... Jeff did you check the DA? I will look on drag times and figure it out. If it was 2000+ you could be looking at .2-3 at the least just from the weather ... September will be the month we both run the times we want... It's insane how good these et streets hook (305/30/18) |
:yum: Same Black Z i see on the tube going against an M6?

Yeah but the M6 is on a SLICK and I was on a street tire and trapping nowhere near me, besides it was blazing hot when I did that 11.75
|
atco def looks down hill ???? you trapped 7 mph more and have a .4 slower 60 ... your car is much quicker than the m6 now
|
im on the boost fence and dont know which way to jump... ahhhh
|
jnaut ran a 12.2 N/A ...... think about that!! lol...
and i will be 12.4-5 by the fall... but Jeff's car is an 11.2 or better car and is nasty fast. searching youtube i saw the m6 jeff raced beating a lambo ... I cant imagine rolling up next to a gallardo and beating it in my Z , that would be VERY fun... all it comes down to is money... do you have 12,000 for the initial build and do you have 10,000 if your motor blows? You should have 20k of money that wouldnt hurt you to spend if you go the F/I route on your 370z... What I may do is buy my brothers 350z for 7k (03 Grand Touring) (just take over his payments, that what he owes) and start a build on that car while enjoying my N/A 370... You can pick up turbo kits or SCers for cheap on the 350 boards.... IMO the 370z is too new and a good NA car and I wouldnt want to risk needing a 10k motor if it blows... vq35DE's can be had for 800 and I can build it and drop the motor in , than buy a turbo kit and build a 350 for a fraction of the cost.. Still making really good power... |

In the end you can build a VHR short block around the same price as a VQDE |
Quote:
yea that is sick man, i really want to see your car in person. I'm only on the fence because our shop has a used stillen SC i can pick up for around 3500-4000 + install.... so ill only be a little over what my N.A build will cost. The shop also has 4.08 gears and a manual pumpkin/lsd in stock ahhhhh decisions |
Jeff, you just had PM do a retune before you went to the track? Did they do this on the dyno? REALLY good no matter how.
I'd like to know what the rwhp is now. I'm sceptical of only 530whp propelling this. MPH = HP, no getting around it. ET = Lots of factors. PM and you did a great job. Boastful. Good stuff. Coop |
