101mph, nearly 102mph, is a healthy trap at that DA. However I would have hoped for a tad more with your mods.

I trap nearly the same(100 to 101mph) in similar conditions in my sedan, which puts down ~265whp.

8pm at night, 94 degree track temperature. Density altitude = 3186. Something bad happened with track prep. Guys that I know that run 11.5's were turning 12.5's because no one on street tires were getting traction.

On 91 octane I turned 14.0 @ 101.8 with a 2.3s 60 foot which was all spinning with 3500 rpm launch. Used 8,000 rpm shift point. With traction control on I ran 14.4s. Looks like I'll have to wait until fall to see some decent numbers at this track.

Yikes, that's slower than stock...Time for tires?

Run sounds fine compared to what others were running, sounds like bad track and high altitude.

A 2.3 second sixty isn't very good, but even with a 2.1 second sixty he would have seen about a 13.7 second run with that trap speed. It was definitely the altitude/air that hurt him the most.

MY 7 AT sport ran a 13.201 with stillen intake and 4.08 gears. I hit the rev limiter in 4th and missed 5th.
RWHP 286.
0 to 60 using 1/8th mile time and trap = 4.41 seconds with a 2.09 60 ft time on 19 inch tires.
I would say when I install the headers, cats, exhaust and a Cob tune it will go 12.7 to 12.6. bo problems. The problem is the rear tires.
I have to get a different valve stem for my formula 5's so that they clear the calipers on these rims. I have toyo tires 275/35 19 that i run ay 23 to 25 lbs and i get 1.89, 60 ft times on my 5 AT 350 stillen Z.

370Zilla 07-17-2009 08:45 PM

How do you miss 5th in an auto? Is the 370z auto tranny different than others? I know on my EvoX I could bang the limiter, but not miss a gear?

Z eliminator 07-17-2009 09:33 PM

I had it in MM and i shifted to late. It hit the limiter at 7500.

tbonesteak 07-28-2009 09:27 PM

wow...12s are looking tough so far. Hopefully as we get cooler we can see 12s! i just dont get how stock HRs got 13.1s that sounds like a feat.

It's the middle of summer, around sept. we should see some 12s Famoso is a badass track, at LACR in the heat of summer I ran 12.3, the next week we went to famoso and at 100+ degrees I hit 11.93.

tbonesteak 08-03-2009 01:54 AM

LACR is the most garbage track ever. The elevation PWNZ you.

NIZMOZ 08-03-2009 07:40 AM

Plus 91 octane ownz people in LA. You won't get the best times in LA. East Coast usually gets the best times.

Another good point, what can we get to run decent 1/4 ?

water/meth injection.

or use a couple of gallons of race gas with your normal tank of 91 octane. (ie: 10 gallons 91, 2-3 gallons of race gas)

As usual, people seem to be fixated on E.T. when really the trap-speed matters much more on a street-car. Quick E.T.s are nice, but it really is meaningless as soon as you drive off the track onto an un-prepped, bumpy, dirty public road, where as the trap-speed is more of an indication of how fast the car actually is (as well as the MPH delta between 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile).

I would rather see consistent 112+ MPH runs over 12s.

Well since most races are based on who can get to the finish line first I could see why most people would rather have a fast ET instead of a high trap. I ran in an event recently and was matched up against a super light QR sentra twice during the qualifying rounds and he beat me both times by 1 tenth and was only trapping 95mph. I think my highest trap that day was 101 I believe. I was 4 tenths and 4 mph slower than usual because of the heat.

Well I'm going to try WIR in kaukana once i get these crappy bridgestones off my car (just going to use a better street tire no DR for me) and on a cool 50 degree day here i don't think i'll hit 12's but i should be able to run a 13.0-13.1 pass considering i could run a 13.62 on a bad track in high heat. maybe i'll bring the camera along for poops and giggles. got a friend with 6.0L GTO and he wants to see if he can hit 12.79.
