12.721 @ 110.05

Ran my personal best time today. It was the first pass on the year on the track.
Same set up as last year except i had the GTM torque converter on the car.
The quickist 7 AT with bolt ons.

60 ft..... 1.869
330...... 5.351
1/8 ...... 8.185
MPH...... 89.24
1000...... 10.634
1/4...... 12.721
MPH...... 110.05

Temp was 52 degress and the tracton was good. Launched at 1900 to 2000 rpm.
I will have the skinney front tires on next time i go did not have time to pick up the rim today.

will post time slip soon.
I ran the stock fuel curve and stock nissan ecu settings as i have not put new map in with the uprev/
It would hvae gone in the 12.5's but for some reason when i shifted into 5th the rev matching did not work and the rpm dropped to 4000 rpm from my shift piont which was 7200 today. It usally only drop's 1100 rpm. the car lost power during that shift every time.It felt like the motor stalled and then came back to life.
This only started happening after I hooked up the uprev to my car.
Need to know why this is happeniing. It's just like missing a gear. The motor takes time to aclerate after this gear change.
Other than that the car was very quick.
Next time i go i will be putting on the stock manifold taking off the Motordyne and using my cobb for tuning. The shift piont will be 7800 rpm.
The GTM converter worked well.

One happy Z.

henry0844 04-09-2011 05:54 PM

congrats that's a good time and mph!!

Z eliminator 04-09-2011 05:56 PM

thank you,
I can not wait till I put the GTM Stage 2 Sc on the car.

Jordo! 04-09-2011 05:58 PM

Hmmm. You sure the new torque converter isn't slipping...?

What is your stall speed set at? If you are launching < 2K, I'm not sure the new TC is making much of a difference one way or the other

Either way -- awesome time! Great job

You'll probably trap higher with the factory IM.

b1adesofcha0s 04-09-2011 06:07 PM

Congrats man, that's an awesome time! Makes me want to hit the drag strip again.

Z eliminator 04-09-2011 06:12 PM

The reason i launch at 2000 rpm is that my tire's start to spin on the line. I have to put new back brake pad's on the car as they are taking a beating when i do my burn outs at 6500 rpm in 3 rd gear with the brakes on.
I usually launch at 1200.

It supossed to be set at 2500 to 2700 rpm.

Anarky 04-09-2011 06:13 PM

Congrats awesome time

I found the best RPM to launch at was 1500 in the few runs I did.

christian370z 04-09-2011 07:16 PM

Do you think the transmission PCM needs to be calibrated to match the new converter a bit better? Nice run, this makes me want to try out drag racing now.

GZ3 04-09-2011 08:01 PM

Great time! What are you mods

370Z JT 04-09-2011 08:39 PM

Is this with full interior?

You're not selling the motor dyne manifold are you? Lmk! :)

tranceformer 04-10-2011 08:51 AM

Just when I was starting to catch up you set the bar a little higher. Competition makes us all better. Great run!

Nice Run.

Considering that there are 100 350s, for every one 370z, I find it interesting, that when I log on the 370z site, I'm never dissapointed, there's always someone posting about racing their car. Sometimes on the 350z site, it can take weeks to see a new post on their dragracing/times thread.
btw. congrat. on a great run.

Ray, tires & gears = 12.7:)

Z eliminator 04-10-2011 10:46 AM

the 370Z is still new and we're still exploring the limits.

Thats because 350's have been out forever more people have raced them than 370's. I hope that there will be more boosted 370z times this coming year that is the one area that this site lacks.

dainedazz 04-15-2011 09:18 AM

Nice number man. I want to see what numbers I can put up on my car soon.

Z eliminator 04-16-2011 12:18 PM

Ok took the car to my own ex nissan mechanics this morning.
They found the tranney to be dowm 2 quarts.
This really ***** me off as i just payed nissan 180 .00 two weeks ago to flush and refill my tranney.
This why the car shifted so bad from 4th to 5th. The shift took for ever 2 or 3 tenths at least. the engine did nothing but die till it hit 4000 in 5th.
It cost me my 12.4 pass.
I had the oil changed to royal puple racing 5. 30 today and drained and filled the rear diff. with royal purple.
he also bumped my timing 2 degress.
Look out the car is now a living terror. It jumps and shifts way better than when i went to the track.
I have both skinney mounted on the spare tire rims now.
The saving is aprox 31 lbs of the front of the car.
will post pic of tire today.
Im still waiting for one fitting for the line lock.
light weigh rotors and brake pads ordered from racing brake
will change out real brake hose to SS so that i will have more brakes holding the back wheels on the launch.
will be at the track in 2 or 3 weeks.
Will not catch J naut but it going to be a fast !/4 mile time
Now if i can only figure out how to attach the seat belt to my racing seat.i can pull a nother 21 lbs out of the car.
Z

b1adesofcha0s 04-16-2011 12:37 PM

Well it's good that you figured out the problem

I'm excited to see how you do at the track now. If possible, you should try to get a video of your run :excited:

wow that must be why my tranny is also not shifting like it use to and don't lockup properly anymore . I tried to tune the tranny with Uprev but nothing really work well.
I had a leak for a while apparently but I never saw any fresh oil under my front end until last week.

it was only leaking like 1 drop every several minutes on idle.
I added 3/4 Liter but I'm just too afraid overfilling it.

I'm still waiting for the Dealership to receive the (special tool) for the flush since none around Ottawa has it.

Red__Zed 04-16-2011 02:20 PM

Solid time man.

Z eliminator 04-16-2011 07:38 PM

When they fill it make sure that the tranney oil is at 40 c or more,
There is no secret how to fill it.
the car has to be running at idle.
you open the vent under the tranney and remove the filler cap.
Have them put the fluid in till it streams out of the vent.
let it run for 10 to 15 seconds.
then stop filling the tranney when it stops running.
go and road test your car and chech it again (same procedure as above.)
you will be amased as how much fluid it will take.
make sure that you do not pay for this as its under warenty if you had a leak.
what was leaking the tranny front seal
ask for a new transmsion as they have no servisable parts

the leak was from the oil cooler I installed , not the transmission itself

its sad Uprev cant log the ATF Temp  that would be easier than dealing with installing another gauge only for that this.

I think when I did it , it was around 20-25 Celsius I didn't know it would affect the filling to much .

Good news. the slinneys are mounted on the 18 x4 rims. Weight savings are 31 lbs of the front of the car.
Brake rotors should be here by next friday.
The tranney is now full and 12.4's or better next time out.
Going to be reinstall the cobb fuel curve.
I think i found a 7 AT torque converter and im going to have it built for a 3300 to 3400 rpm stall. should get me into the 1.7's 60 ft time/ It will be better than the GTM one for drag racing. (1.860 )
big things happening up here in Canada.

Juruki 04-22-2011 10:20 AM

Crazy fast! Makes me wanna mod my 7at
Keep it up

Are you saying you have an external transmission oil cooler installed? Or are you referring to an engine oil cooler? Just making sure, because the two aren't connected.

If you already know this, then my bad, but thought I'd clear the air just in case.

Grats on the times Z eliminator

Z eliminator 04-28-2011 07:50 AM

Going to the strip this saturdays, (skinneys wil be on the car. )
should go 12.6,s or better), if the low tranney fluid was the cause of the bad shifts from 4th to 5th. its now full and if it shifts properly there cound be a 12.3 run.
The weather will be 50's to 60 degeress.
It very windy up here and they ae calling for 20 mile /hr winds or more, I just hope that they are with me and not against me.
Z

m4a1mustang 04-28-2011 07:54 AM

Good luck, Steve! Get some pics of the car on skinnies for us!
