i was looking very hard for the right 335i but i just wasnt sure about them and finding one with the correct warranty and CPO and options was kinda hard.

Factory turbo cars are always going to offer quite a bit of tuning potential.

true that that JB3-4 whatever they are at now makes the 335i pretty tough but turning up the boost in a car CAN not will but CAN have issues

not stock they do NOT have LSD. you have to get up to the M series to get one. Surprising in the new Car and Driver they compare

Audi TT-RS

LostMarine 04-07-2011 03:28 PM

135/335's do NOT come with LSD. but 135/335 was not the sports car argument

135/335's are rather impressive in 1/4 mile and 60-130 runs.

since we have factory turbo's, tuning is easy. what i meant by that is a car that is using his octane and boost proportionatly. basically an N54 that runs octane for 16-17 psi, is going to put a hurtin on A LOT of cars.

and yes cossie, you can buy a corvette and run circles around, but is that the total package?

If you put it up against a forced induction Z, supercharged or TT'ed, a fully tuned 335i with stock turbos would not have an edge.

really? i dont think you know what your talking about. I dont think your aware of what fully modded N54's can do.

Stock turbo N54a are running 119-123mph in the 1/4 mile

im shooting for 126+mph this season, i have upgraded turbo's (stock housing, upgraded internal's ect)

wow 335i with a tune in less than 1 sec ahead of the stock 370Z. The only difference is the BMW were trapping higher.

and anyway whats the big deal about 1/4 mile times anyway. Put the same driver in both cars same day and its a crap shoot

Marine you need to find yourself and stop being lost out in BMW land.

yes lets get this place really cooking!!!!

what are you talking about? 1 second in the 1/4 mile is not a lot? have you ever tried drag racing? and ET is a show of traction and gearing- MPH show how much power th cars are doing.

I came here to find more information on the 370z platform and obviously got sucked in here..

my 05 is lighter, faster at the track (4 sec at track with turns), comes with better lsd, sits lower, same gas mileage. i would say yes it is a better car from every performance category. i just never got comfortable driving it

cossie1600 04-07-2011 04:19 PM

wow, you guys are really just as ridiculous as i though. the 2 nismo guys i been talking to must be the exception. I show proof that tune/fbo cars will wreck a lot more than a tune /fnbo 370 and you start yur clammering about blah blah.. sorry guys. HR has been doing lots of different setups, some on n20, some not on n20.. take a look at the 2nd guy, he has the no n20 record.

seems like you guys are getting in over your head a bit now? and guess what, we still havent built any motors.. now, im assumin im about to get banned, but if you want to talk, hop over to bimmerboost.com and challenge some of those guys. im sure someone is local to you.. LEGALLY of course..

LostMarine 04-07-2011 05:57 PM

guess what the sports car stuff that your side already threw out there, includes domestic cars.. so...... they can turn, and apparantly outcorner you and your car.. but hey, what do I know right.. i just show facts and then you change the subject

i can bet that your NOT about to get banned...am having a civil conversation here, you showed "proof" of some times ran by a guy whos been lying about his mods, that actully has an extensive mods list...am just calling you out WITH facts...how is that in any way ridicules?? I bet if i look up the 2nd guy it will show another vaslty extensive modlist.....your trying to make it seem that just a very few light things here and there and BAM 11.2 1/4....nope sorry.....that guy was lying about his boost, and spraying a 100shot. If your make claims, make sure your are 100% in the know, because people will call you out.

GZ3 04-07-2011 06:08 PM

and if you read back VERY CAREFULLY you will see that NA vs FI gains was already discussed and no one said they were equal in that regard....FI will always net more....read back if you want, its there, it doesnt matter to me

If I was after 60-130 times I would have kept my last car....

As mentioned before, the current 1/3 series have some serious suspension issues. There's a reason there aren't many performing at a high level on a road course.

Hahaha. Modding starts when I get some money. Gotta figure out what my work/school schedule will be in the fall since the 2 don't like each other very much :p I'm also trying to get an internship this summer, which will also help. The first thing I will need to do though is to get a new set of tires sometime this summer. Thinking about going with Hankooks and use that money I save to buy some HFC's (if my work/school issues are solved).

I'm interested in seeing the 1 series M get tested by one of the car mags or Top Gear. Do you think suspension issues will be solved with the M?

I dunno. I'm honestly kind of out of touch with how Bimmers are since I sold my 540i. I almost wound up with a 135i instead of the Z, but the handling is pretty poor, and everyone I know that autocrosses them has run into all sorts of issues.

Used to have an old azz 318i with 250k+ miles, it was never working quite properly so I didn't have any fun with that. I was thinking about autocrossing my Z this summer. Seems really fun and I hope I can do it without having to get any of the track prep mods (oil cooler, brake pads, etc.).
