I am seriously thinking about buying a 370Z again. Like teh Corvette I owned, tires/rims are going to become a serious problem for the car due to the size and

Default Track wheel/Tires

I am seriously thinking about buying a 370Z again. Like teh Corvette I owned, tires/rims are going to become a serious problem for the car due to the size and cost. I am curious to see what others are using to avoid the problem?

What sort of track stuff you looking to do? A second set of stockers with some decent tires will probably do the trick.

If I owned a 370Z, I'd be autoxing. I'd buy a second set of stock wheels and run 295/30 Hoosier A6's...

19s are not exactly great for racing or for the wallet. The stock 18" are narrower than the 19", hard to fit 265/295 on there

you can run with 245 fronts and 275/285 on the rear on the stock 18's, Nitto555's are what most car mags are using on their track cars, give em a shot. The NT01's were a hit with alot of mags and shops when they came out as well, they're worth a look.

NT555 are garbage, no real trackie will use them.

I really don't want to use 19s, they get very expensive, especially with the lack of camber adjustment on the Z.

R888 are garbage also, used them on 3 cars and hated it on every single one.

What's your budget? Best of the best is Volk/Rays wheels but they can be expensive as dedicated track wheels. How about a dual purpose wheel that can be used for both? How serious are you going to get with track days?

I am good with the tire choice and type, I am just curious to see what wheels I could use to clear the sport brakes. I got rid of the Corvette because of the $400 rear tires, I really don't want to pay that much for tires again.

I am using a set of 4 rear 18x8.5" 350Z Rays track wheels that I had widened to 9.5" by weldcraft. 19.8 lbs each, and I use a 25mm spacer in the rear, but the wheel will clear everything without the spacer. Paid 500 for the wheels and 900 to widen them.

I use BF Goodrich R1s, 275/35-18 all around. Almost a hoosier, but cheaper.

That's odd, cuz I fit 295 Hoosiers with no problem on an 8" wheel. Maybe people should just listen to people with actual experience and in the know.

Autox is not the same as track days, perhaps you should try getting out of 3rd gear. Getting the tires to fit doesn't mean it will work right, I have enough data from my datalogger to prove that.

I just want to buy a set of cheap wheels, they will get destroyed and pitted by the brake dust and tire installer anyway. I did some quick search, it looks like the cheap options would be to get the narrower size rims or just pay a boatload of money for the big bad boys. They get quite pricey when you start rolling 9 or 10" rims.

Wow, way to be a want-to-be elitist a-hole with zero knowledge about me. Who's to say I haven't done any on the track activities? I'm more into competitive motorsports, while I currently lack the funds to turn a 370z into a dedicated race car (and I know you do to by your directly quoted question), who's to say I haven't done other forms of racing besides autoxing?

To answer your original question, buy a cheapy set of 17's or 18's ( I see plenty in the 20 lb range at a decent price at an ample width to properly fit a wide tire on tirerack) and enjoy your track days.
