HPDE Sebring

Today I had some personal firsts. Set a new PB today at a 2:37:49, 5 seconds off my last track day and 3 seconds faster then my previous PB. Also I completely lost my brakes entering turn 1 towards the end of my session. What a O S H I T moment. I think the pads were toast I have to inspect it later this week. 2 tracks and front pads are gone if so I’m not happy lol. I’ll get videos up soon, also SSfirehawk give him a shout out, SOB shaved off about 10 second off his PB, he rAn a 2:39, may have ran faster but dash cam stopped working his last two session. He will upload us on the track at the same time. Thanks again to Charles RRP worked flawlessly for both cars.

Sounds like fun! Congrats on the new PB!

Grats to both of you those are major improvements. I have found that at the Carbotec XP10 fronts last me roughly ~6-7hrs (20*20min sessions) now days. :(

Fudge really? Damnit. I’m going to step up to xp20’s and debating 8’s or 10 in the rear

That sounds about right to me. I find they are pretty good up to the end.

This is my last session of the day when my brakes went out. Freaking Waylens was acting up all freaking day i tried to record the laps with my phone annd my last lap right before the brakes went out i measured 2:35.78 with my phone. Not 100% accurate but damn close. So i went back and timed the lap once again and clocked in at the same 2:35:78. FFW 10:50 if you all decided to record the time, let me know what you come up with.

SS_Firehawk 01-08-2019 07:35 AM

This was my fastest lap. Other video below is some more laps running through traffic. I went through my Carbotechs as well, not nearly the dramatic fashion as Elmo lol. Had a lot of brake fluid evaporate and I need a larger power steering cooler, it started leaking a bit. Think it got pretty hot. Oil temps broke 260 degrees but didnt go in limp mode. I kept pressing it. That was with a 72 row oil cooler. May need to box in the oil cooler to force more air through.

No wonder I lost brakes, fluid didn’t boil. One way to burn titanium to get that look.

xxAGAVExx 01-08-2019 07:34 PM

Looks like fun. What club do you guys go to Sebring with, I just signed up for chin track days, I want to hit up Sebring sometime soon.

Chin. I want to sign up again soon, but I have a leak I have to find and new pads and fluids. FML. I burnt a lot of oil that day also

Rusty 01-08-2019 08:38 PM

Tip on the power steering. Get a Z1 power steering cooler, and do not fill the reservoir to the full line. Just to the add line. Because when the fluid gets hot. It expanses. It has to go somewhere. If the reservoir is filled to the full line. It will come out. To the add line. If it does come out. It's not that much.

If you are running a 2" duct hose. Think it's time for a 3" hose or bigger.

I'm going from the 2" to 3" hose when I install my splitter.

SS_Firehawk 01-09-2019 06:12 AM

Where do you route a 3" hose to where it clears the frame?

You have be creative as the 3" hose is huge! We had to modify (cut out a space) the wheel well liner and make the hose slightly oblong for a short distance to make it fit.

I need to install my Finite design Carbon Fiber Nismo ducts after the twin turbo install. Pictures in your gallery would be good.

For refrence, found this from some metal workers.

Heat tinting of titanium:
pale gold straw- 385C : 725F
purple- 412C : 774F
deep blue- 440C : 824F
red purple- 565C : 1049F
brown gray- 648C : 1198F
green blue-925C : 1697F

Yeah you needs some cooling, also make sure any rubber parts aren't too damaged like the caliper dust boots.

Dust boots are damaged. I need new ones

How often you guys replace your dust boots?

There is a couple of track rats who never replace their boots because then they would have to change them after each event. If you DD the Z too. Then I would replace them.

I don’t daily the Z, before I replaced them it went 5 years. Had no issues on the track.

Once a year for myself, they are probably gone before that but they are not super critical. I also don't go too often to the track, a few times a year.
