There seems to be pretty good response to those of us that post our track day adventures and I don't wont to keep making separate treads for each venue I visit so I will post videos here anyone else that want to feel free to do so. :driving:

Wow, congrats Bob on your win.

Sure you'll become better at utilizing the pedal, it only needs courage, and maybe some spins :rofl2:

SS_Firehawk 02-22-2018 06:14 AM

Awesome Bob, I'll post up my slow vids later haha.

SS_Firehawk 02-22-2018 07:27 AM

Don't mind my slowness. You can hear me fuel starve all over the place half way in

Round 1 of Nissan Challenge at Auto Club Speedway Fontana

Congrats Bob!! I have come to love Chuckwalla, first time was intimidating but after that it's become one of my favorite tracks.

Lap time: 1:57.147
Good enough to win Class 3 of Nissan Challenge
So close to 1:56's though.

My first trackday using a GoPro. Had an instructor with me. :driving: What's funny. We started talked about money investments towards the end of the session. He was that comfortable with me. Group 1 with instructor.

In Group 3 now. :driving: Bought new helmet for it. They asked for a couple of us the drop down to run in Group 2 because of the number of cars in Group 3 this day. :tiphat: Group 3 has a lot of pure race cars in it. Nothing like getting past by a Nascrap stocker or a old Ford GT 40 with a 427 in it.

Different view. Don't realize at how much bouncing around you do. I still have a habit of trying to lean the car like a motorcycle. :icon17: I lean in my seat. Took a while to break myself of that habit. :shakes head: What I hate is these little 4 bangers with big turbos making about 500 Hp. They will pass you on the straights, only to get outbraked into a turn. Then they slow everyone up in the turns. :shakes head: I leave these guys go by and give them some distance. Then run them down in the turns. :icon17:

I'm trying to get more track time this year. :driving: I didn't get much last year. :shakes head: Everytime it seems like I was planning a trackday. The wife want to travel some place with the motorhome on that weekend. And it was no where near a track. :(

my third ever track day, super slow, best I could do was 1:53 with 1:50 as best split

second time at Laguna Seca

I cooked my rotors and also got fuel starve after turn 4...even with 60% dots on the fuel :/, I'm just glad this was a counterclockwise track

What track is that, it looks like it's pretty rough. I never bounced like that on NJMP tracks. That problem is typical of HDPE, just have to have a friendly conversation with the drivers after the first run. I usually have that problem though with the camaros, mustangs, and hemi's. They blow by me on the front straight and after the 2nd or 3rd turn I'm back on their butts.

StevenSlice 04-12-2018 11:26 AM

Im at 3 track days already this year.. every time i forget to bring the GoPro lol.

Next time there will be video i swear

Ever wondered what it like being on track with a Le Mans Prototype? Wait for the end. You'll see an LS powered Ginetta LMP3 pass me like i'm standing still.

I know that feeling of being passed. Had my ear drums blown out from the left side of my head to though the right side by a GT40 follow by a NACRAPER. :icon14:

Rusty you seem to fit in your car very well with your helmet, my helmet is touching the head liner with the seat all the way down and with me scrunched down in the seat. Makes me wish I was shorter. :rofl2:

My last track day of the year in my Z.

Latest mod was the OS Giken LSD. It was a half year wait getting one for the 7AT!
But damn was the wait worthwhile. I ran faster times with the LSD and PS4S's than with the VLSD and Nexen SUR4Gs.
The PS4S's were getting too hot and losing grip, even with the cold day.

My experience with the PSS's. Is that they work well for about 20 minutes or until you overheat them. Then they get greasy. Then the real fun begins. :driving: Haven't had to much of a chase to see what the PS4S's will do.

I'm actually an inch shorter and 20lbs lighter lol, 6'1", 200 lbs. I must have a really long torso :rofl2:

Pretty similar haha. They seem a little stickier overall. Especially in cold and wet! The Z was up there with AWD cars on a cold and wet autoX thanks to the PS4S.

I had a couple instances where the drop in grip caught me off-guard.
Once while braking, and I almost ran out of track. Another time while powering out of a turn and the rear kicked out a lot, far before I was expecting halfway through the exit. That was a bit more of a panty-pooper.

If you have a choice between 200TW tires and PS4S, I'd only recommend the PS4S on cold wet days.

Spooler 10-24-2018 08:30 PM

OS Giken diffs are no joke. I really enjoy mine since I got the correct fluid in it.

I am 6'1" and 205 and I have a couple of inches but I have a race seat mounted in fixed position so it sits as low as possible.

I still have touring seats so I may need to get some racing seats for track use. Are you using side mount brackets?

If we do something like this, does our insurance co cover damages from a crash and will they frown upon it and raise rates?? Just wondering.

Most insurance companies don't cover track events. Read your policy and talk to your agent. They do sell policies that covers just the event.

Unfortunately I didn't do any track days in 2018, but I plan on going out in 2019 after I make a huge upgrade to the car.

Here's what might be my favorite session to date (i'm on the left side)
