Thank you kind sir. It was an excellent weekend for me. I got some excellent instruction from one of the instructors and was able to immediately transfer his instructions into speed even though my car was not performing like it should have. I was really happy with my Sunday time dispite my boost issues. The second place competitor was two seconds slower and partner in crime was almost 4 seconds slower so it was fun giving him the business about his American Muscle!

To keep the throttle pinned and throw it into the turn and hope it sticks. :driving:

Lol, that is pretty much it. It was everything we talked about in my Wild Horse Pass video thread. He drove my Z for three or four laps and then I got back behind the wheel. He was really impressed with how well car handled and showed me what I needed to learn to do. When we finished the session he said to me that I need to learn how to use my tires more. Let them do the braking and not the brakes. He said if you read the temperature across the width of the tires that there would be a significant delta between the temps when I finished as session than when he would finish because of the way he would drive and use the tires. He said, you are probably not close to the manufactures recommended operating temperature, so drive and use those tires and you will find more grip! I listen and learned!!! Still not there but what an improvement. I was at least 4 seconds faster during the Time Attack than before. The next day I dropped my time another 2.5 seconds. As Rusty said, the car has a lot of poke and the driver is still working getting up to speed lol.

LOL, that is exactly what the perpetrators said. You Kingman guys should consider yourself as officially part of the AZ NASA family. It really did make us feel accepted as part of core group of participants and officials.

Both are awesome venues and great proving grounds for what you and your car can do when compared to the best or the norm.

I could only set a 2.07.3 on buttonwillow. Not fast by any means but pretty respectable on the tires i have and the open diff. Hopefully next time there is close to 2 flat. I know where i can shave time, i called it early because not enough camber and i was ruining my front driver side tire...

I know that maybe this is not the correct thread to ask this but for those that have or know something about the automatic transmission in a 370z or G37 and track them... How the transmission works? Any issues? I have to upgrade something maybe a transmission cooler, etc... I ask this because im looking to get a G37S and I cant find one with manual transmission:shakes head:... All of them are automatic

What you guys can tell me about that... any recomendations?

Thanks!

From my last track day, whatsapp quality

I like seeing supercars owners disappointed :bowrofl: I don't have a thing against them, but it is amusing when a first timer try to use the straights because his car is faster. We don't have different groups.

If you're going to track with the 7 speed auto, you should get the transmission oil cooler first. I would hate for you to have to go through the pains i went through. Usually the torque convertor seizes and or the flex plate breaks. Once that happens the transmission basically becomes inoperable and needs to be replaced.

There have been a few others who have experienced the same thing, wstar and megan370z also had to replace their transmissions. Even after adding the cooler, there is no gaurantee that the trans will last for a long time. I was able to get mine to last for 2 years and 10 track days after doing so.

Once i got my transmission fixed the last time (lol...i destroyed 4 transmissions) i decided that was enough and sold it, then bought a six speed 370z. Swapping the transmissions is harder than it looks and requires a lot of work to replace harnesses, the ecu and some other things to make the manual work in an automatic chassis. It was much easier and possibly cheaper to buy a used 370z and swap all my parts over.

As already said, you need a trans cooler. I ran mine at 20 minute intervals in about 70 degree weather. 3 or 4 laps in you could tell the auto was NOT happy at all. Random hard shifts and slipping because of the heat built up. I'd also advise swapping out your brake fluid like I did. Other then these you should be ok. I've decided that I'm buying a track car sense I went two weekends and knew that I would harm the car iif I continues. One other thing make sure your brakes are in good standing, I burnt through 3 pads on the straight away at 110MPH yeah...IO had to change underwear and call it an early day.

Planing on buying a 350Z the end of March of this year.

I track with 2011 Nismo#91 and he runs a manual with no issues. Drive it home almost 2 hours afterwords. Think he's been doing this for about 5 years.

6 track days in, and the 7 speed auto seems to be holding up ok. It's definitely rougher than I remember it being, but I only ever run when the temperature is cold so that probably helps a little.
