I am 22 and definitely not a geezer; I still do everything I used to do, Mountain bike, motocross (not racing), jet ski, etc. There is a great chance I will slam one day and never walk right for the rest of my life but until then I'll keep shredding. Lifes too short :stirthepot: I was just curious how his was holding up. Glad to hear you won't need another one Rusty. I am pretty sure I will need a second surgery one day. It takes some gnarly slams though, there has been a few times I though for sure I broke it but it was fine. /thread jack over, sorry! |
Age for HPDE
I have been tracking my 2013 NISMO for about 2+ years. All in HPDE events in Texas. I'm 68 and hope I'm still doing this in 10 years. My car continues to be a work in progress and becoming less and less streetable (still street legal, just not that comfortable with racing seats, 6 point harness, etc). The driver is also a work in progress. I have definitely improved; car handling, track awareness, confidence, but think,I still can improve a lot more. Probably the best thing about going to the track is the absolutely fantastic people I have met and friends I have made. Although going up the hill on the front straight of COTA to turn 1 still gives me goose bumps.

60 years old at present. I started a road race career in IMSA at 40. Today, I instruct at DE events. I occasionally track my NISMO, have a turbo Miata currently as my weekend track car but still street legal. Other track cars included a 2001 Mustang Bullitt and Eagle Talon.

Well it is official, I completed my first HPDE on Saturday night. What a freaking blast and got the go ahead to move up to HPDE 2. Next track day will be at AZ Mortorsports Park Oct. 22nd. I can't wait to run during daylight hours lol!

I will be 56 Nov 1, my wife will be 57 Nov 4 (32 years married). We started with a Miata 4 years ago and now a 2015 370Z highly modified by me. Wish I would have found this outlet years ago. My wife and I share the car on HST weekends, yes she drives. She is a speed freak! Last month we were parked next to a 70 year old Doctor (Corvette ZO6), a 36 year old Doc (Alpha Romeo) and a woman late 50s (Miata on slicks) she comes every month. The Open Wheel race class here has a driver who is a former Top Fuel Drag Race Champion (Penzoil yellow car Eddie Hill) who just turned 80! Too much fun!

Started at 24, now 33.

24 here. Did my first event after a month of ownership at 21. Limited funds available so I do them when my bank account allows me. Still the best way to spend money imo.

I tracked the Elise 50 weekends between age 53 and 60. The last few years with CHIN at Road Atlanta and VIR.
One of my very best life experiences. http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/...psprth4zl1.jpg |

63 for me. Used to race in the previous century but got my Nismo this year and had to hit the track again. Ran at Mosport (CTMP) on the GP circuit last Monday. Loved it and will definitely do more track days. :)

25 here, started going to the track around 17 in cars, been karting since 7. I spend most of the time bombing the SoCal canyons though. Only reason i go to the track anytime now is for testing purposes. My order of testing is pretty standard with maybe 5-10 sessions of 3 or 4 lap runs. Warm-up>hot lap(s) >cool down, or Warm-up>hot lap> hot pitstop.
I do spend a fair amount of time in virtual sim racing honing my mental skills . AC or Pcars (hopefully pcars 2 will be an improvement!) Any PC gamers can find me on steam. |
