I've seen just the short end clip before... what a great battle. I don't know if I agree with the move in the end. Kind of extreme given the outcome. Bad sportsmanship.

BobDigi5060 11-26-2009 12:26 PM

Sneaky sneaky. Great race up until that point.

Thank you.

+1 on the bad sportsmanship. I definitely think the Porsche driver was a d-bag, and I was hoping to see the outcome after the incident.

What happened to the drivers?

Yeah they showed all the Corvette pit jumping the wall and booking down to the Porsche's pit area...

..BUT..

...WHAT HAPPENED!?!

The announcers certainly played all that down right quick. :bowrofl:

boosted180 11-27-2009 12:18 AM

my opinion is that it was bad sportsmanship on the part of both drivers. the porsche driver should not have pushed him into the wall, causing him to end up crashing into the opposite wall. but the corvette driver was pretty aggressive himself bumping the porsche on the last turn to take the position. (they would not have ended up side by side if it wasnt for the bump coming out of the last corner).

both drivers ended up getting on probation for the next two races. (if they're involved in anymore incidences during probation, they'll be suspended)

the porsche kept the win for that race.

Incredible driving for both drivers up until the last turn. The Vette's bump on the Porsche's rear was not a kosher move to begin with. That alone could easily have put the Porsche off the track and into a wall. The porsche then crossing the track to put the vette in the wall was probably seat-of-the-pants anger reaction.

Thanks for posting the vid. That got my blood pumping and was a great 10 minutes of time spent :)!

Yeah, that is the most epic battle ever. I actually watched the whole thing when it was posted here last.

My first reaction was that while the Corvette was out of line, the Porsche was way out of line. But I could see how he must have felt, probably something along the lines of, "You want to play like *that*? F__K you!"

I love that the Corvette made it across the finish line, even if that doesn't really matter in a GT2 finish...

That Porsche should have let the Vette by a long time before it happened. Yes, both drivers were being aggressive, but....

To counter though, why should the Porsche yield to the Vette? It is a race, best of the best (per say), and the Porsche driver was doing all he could to keep the Vette driver behind him. Yes the Vette has the power to overtake the Porsche but the Porsche driver did all he could to prevent that.

SmoothZ 11-28-2009 11:55 AM

From the times I've been on the track, they tell us to yield to the car behind if you know they're trying to pass. I thought these events penalized racers for blocking like that.

While I agree that it's all or nothing in that kind of professional sport, it was obvious (to me) that once the Vette passed it was pulling away and WAS the faster car.
