Yeah, Paul from AE ran 1.55.xx in Redline config which I hear is a bit slower than the usual Open laping config, but I think that just comes down to the brass.

I'm a wuss but will be extremely happy with a 2.00 flat. :eekdance:

Is that running simultaneous with the big track event? I want to check your car out and meet you but I don't know if I wil get the chance on Sunday.

Yes. I might be out there Sat. too.
Check the Speed Ventures site to see if I've signed up for Sat. I won't know until the last minute.

PRAY FOR NO RAIN!!!!!
Weatherchannel dot com says nope.. the rain won't start until MONDAY but sheesh.. you never know. You Sat. guys are probably safe but we might be dodging a bullet on Sunday!!!!

However... the event runs rain or shine and either way I'll be there with two video cams on car. ;)

ACS only has one track. we are running the roval configuration. i think you mean the track event and the autocross? speedventures always does an auto-x running simultaneously with the track event here. you save $20 if you sign up for both. it'll be fun.

See I would pray for rain lol. Its not often you get to practice wet driving skills. Just pray for a little rain and not enough to close the track. :)

Diito. I love driving in the rain on track, although you do need to dial it back a little as grassy run-offs turn into giant slip and slides when they are the slightest bit wet. Giving point-by's suck though, unless they let you use turn signals instead.

i would normally agree and i've driven in the rain once at buttonwillow. but i personally would not want to try driving in the rain at acs. rain + 150mph speeds + the WALL on the oval is a pretty ugly combination. i can just hear the wall taunting me, "yeah, just keep on pushing harder. go ahead, make my day!" hahaha....

ACS does only have one track... yes. However, they (speed ventures) doesn't run autocross on the "track". I believe they run it out in the parking lot on a makeshift track. That's all I was saying.

Agreed. Screw that. I wouldn't have any problem running the track in the rain EXCEPT for coming off that front straight at 140+ going into that long banked turn. I mean how much do you gamble that?

Plus, I'm going in order to try to beat my standing time. Obviously in the rain I would have to dial it back and I really don't have any interest is doing that. I guess if worse comes to worse, I drive in the wet but I really don't want to. If I were paid to actually "race", then sure I would chalk that up to "practice" but I'm not and I'm happy to be a "fair weather" weekend warrior.

Wish I could. Need tires, brake rotors, and money. :) I will just sit back and call you guys names and tell you that you're too slow. :D Then I can tell everyone how fast I would have been if I was out there.

boosted180 01-18-2010 08:39 AM

lots of fun! always some *very* fast cars at speedventures events. did you get any video or pics of that insane orange ferrari, michael?

the rain didnt come until the end of the last session.

1st session: 2.06.xx
2nd sesson: 2.04.xx
3rd sessoin: 2.03.xx
4th session: 2:01.43

just as i was getting comfortable with the track on the 4th session, the rain started to come and i had to back off. it would have felt good to do a sub-2 minute time, but it felt even better to take my car home in one piece!

nice meeting you michael. are you going to WSIR in feb.? havent been there in over 5 years.

my car: sports 6m with springs, sway bars, front camber arms, and I/E (just installed a few days ago. call me lead-butted, but i didnt feel any power increase from that. it sure sounds fast though! lol.)
