I had one of those plates fail in my car ( C B Street setup). I never heard a noise, but it manifested because it knocked into the fuel level

I had one of those plates fail in my car (CB Street setup). I never heard a noise, but it manifested because it knocked into the fuel level sensor causing it to fail (which manifested by the fuel guage reading progressively lower until it read empty). At first the dealership replaced the sensor, which fixed it for a couple months, but when it happened the second time they investigated further and found the baffle to be loose and floating around in there, so they replaced the whole fuel tank. All work was done under warranty by the dealership.
