What's with the database errors again?

Seems to be getting worse lately. Used to never get them during normal operating hours, but now they crop up every so often trying to access a subforum or thread.

theDreamer 05-23-2011 12:31 PM

Must feed the forum monster more pillows!!!!

Lemers 05-23-2011 12:43 PM

Too many nonpaying members clogging up the server.

Sure does happen a lot :(

Red__Zed 05-29-2011 12:09 AM

Not enough donated money is going to updating servers.

shadoquad 05-29-2011 12:05 PM

If you recall, it was at its worst before AK divided up some of the larger threads: The original premium conference room, the original useless thread, the original "word association" and "post something about the person above you" threads...

Maybe it's time to do that again for some of them?

I figured it was due to server updates... seems to happen at the same time everytime for me. Which is around this time ;)

wstar 07-05-2011 06:17 PM

It's happening right now for me. It just took me ~30 minutes to upload 3 photos and update a couple threads with links to then, just waiting through timeouts and retrying after database errors.

fullmonty 07-05-2011 06:36 PM

I've noticed it too, also it's been running slower for me lately as well

To slow, very slow going from thread to thread.

Super Moderator II 07-05-2011 06:57 PM

AK, is aware of the database error issue's. :ugh2:

Please be patient as these issue's involve Major work since the whole site will have to be migrated to a New Server.

Thank You.

I could only hope it's soon.
AK would be able to give a more definitive answer.

Cmike2780 07-05-2011 11:12 PM

This site needs an UpRev Tune or more stickers ;)

wstar 07-06-2011 05:10 AM

Needs Miata doors too

Ron 07-06-2011 08:57 AM

Needs an oil cooler, it went on limp mode.

:iagree:It's happening every 3rd or 4th click now. And, the forum response time is getting very slow. Very annoying.

vividracing 07-07-2011 06:36 PM

The error is due to the server being overloaded. The best bet is to just upgrade the hosting.

Tweaking the server config is possible, as well.

Bigger server(s) is almost always better.

AK370Z 07-07-2011 08:44 PM

Hey guys,
Sorry for my lack responses. I have actually been looking into this issue for last couple of months. I had a few members complaint about the issue but it wasn't bad then. But lately it's been very slow. I have been trying to get everything together to do the server move. We are going to move to a much bigger/faster server. Please hang tight as I gather all the information and get everything ready for the move. Moving this database will be a HUGE task! The370Z has a big database with almost 25,0000 members, 36,000 threads, and 1.2 million posts! It's not going to be easy but I must do the move so that I can provide my members/vendors a faster forum.

I'm going to be announcing the dates and times when the move date/time gets finalized. Please keep an your eyes on the "announcement" section. Thank you for your patience.

Lemers 07-07-2011 08:59 PM

What about deleting non-paying members that have not been active in a while? Would that free up space or sped things up?

Ron 07-07-2011 09:03 PM

The forum's got the herps. Thank you shado...

:icon17: I'm only kidding.

Seriously, I treat all my members the same way. Premium or not. As long as they contribute to our site POSITIVELY, I care about them. I have no desire to delete any non active member (and they are non active. They don't give load to my server)

Moving to the new server SHOULD solve all these problems. I really don't like to delete any of THE370Z database. Everything of the forum has a value to me.

Trips 07-07-2011 09:05 PM

In all seriousness thanks for the Update AK :)

Red__Zed 07-07-2011 09:06 PM

do we have a rough time frame AK?

buddahson 07-07-2011 09:15 PM

Signed up as a premium member. Figure I've been leeching long enough. Good luck with the server move.

christian370z 07-11-2011 01:59 PM

Data base errors are exceptionally bad for me today, I haven't been able to post in or load threads without having the error pop up. Anyone else having these issues?

Cmike2780 07-11-2011 02:01 PM

^^ I think we all are :(

INTENSEPOWER 07-11-2011 02:31 PM

Indeed... that it was just my poopy interawebnetZ.

I do have to say though with all of the boards we peruse this is one of the much better forums for lack of issues.

m4a1mustang 07-11-2011 02:33 PM

The DB errors are getting pretty bad today.

vividracing 07-11-2011 02:40 PM

I got an email since I'm subscribed to this thread... Clicked the link and what do I see?

Database Error!

Admins- If you need help getting this sorted out, PM me.

Cmike2780 07-11-2011 02:44 PM

Its not like there's a TON of traffic. The total user count around this time is around 700 or so. It's been getting worst the past couple of weeks and I really hope it doesn't stop people from visiting.

I ventured into the "premium member" section once  You value some weird stuff AK :icon17:

Waiz 07-11-2011 03:34 PM

I clicked on this thread to respond and got a database error :rofl2:

ChrisSlicks 07-11-2011 05:01 PM

If everyone stays out of the high-res pr0n's thread the server will be okay. Sadly I cannot ...

b1adesofcha0s 07-11-2011 06:17 PM

Database errors are everywhere! I even got a database error when it was trying to give me the database error message. A database error within a database error, we need to go deeper. :bowrofl:
