Nice find, this seams like a pretty good deal for a BBK. but I'm glad I spent the xtra money for the sport package, for $1500 more you get Syncro Rev, Limited Slip and the 19" Rays, such a deal.
Did you find out pricing on the Stop Tech rotors?? |
Quote:
The StopTech rotors are $260 a pair. |
I went to their site, the info says that they are not made by Stop Tech, wonder who the manufacturer is ? Anyway, didn't see any prices there, when you click on buy now, it takes you to a dealer listing. I really like those gold zinc plated ones, wonder if anyone else does a stock size slotted or drilled rotor in the zinc plated?

All this stuff looks great and it is by far the best bang for buck upgrade for a base 370Z. This morning I stopped by the dealer to ask a favor and they shot me down, maybe you (Coz) could help. I have the base model and this upgrade makes perfect sense. I am trying to figure out if buying these brakes is worth it before I upgrade my wheels. My question is, has anyone test fit these under the base model 18's? I took some rough measurements this morning between the two cars and it appears to be very close, but doable. I just want the peace of mind of knowing they will fit before I decide if my first upgrade is brakes or wheels.

Wheel Fitment Template Coz |
I tried the template. It doesn't clear. It's VERY close. It could have just been the way I held the template. We are talking less than a MM to make it fit. It would appear that if you could grind down the outer most corner of the caliper it would clear no problem. I'm a little leery of grinding through that nice powder coat though.

I used a double layer of cardboard. Also lined the lug holes up exactly. It's too close to call.

The Oz spec 370Z comes with the Akebono brakes kit with the base model 18" wheels. It's a crazy tight fit but its factory and it works.

so I know the sports package brakes aren't made for heavy track usage, question is do I have to spend another couple of thousands to upgrade to a better BBK or those slotted and drilled rotors a good compromise? If so I'm thinking about just upgrading the rotors

Modified Magazines Take on the Akebono Kit
In the Media, Akebono Kit in Modified Magazine:
http://www.conceptzperformance.com/i...edmagazine.jpg |
I am in the process of upgrading my Akebono setup with ss brake lines, Motul 600 and Ferodo 2500 brake pads. I cooked the stock pads durng a moderate track day last month.

If you are looking for a braking performance upgrade for the track and don't mind swapping out pads (pretty easy on the sport brakes) go with the Carbotech XP8's all around or even the XP10's up front if you have a heavy braking track. I wouldn't recommend them for the street because they aren't good in the cold and dusty and noisy. |
2pc Rotor Sneak Peak:
I just got these in Friday, they look beautiful. These are DBA 5000 Series Discs, and our own CZP 6061-T6 Aluminum Hat. These hats are based off the same tolerances and specifications that DBA uses for all their 5000 Series 2pc Rotors. We are going to test these for 30 days, and then put them into production with a release date to follow. With our past experience, we tried to cut down the weight as much as possible, but we kept having cracking and warping issues. So we decided to go with more durable disc, and a thicker hat. The DBA Kangaroo Paw Design provides this stronger disc, but with more material, there is more weight. The combination of the Thicker Hat and DBA Kangroo Paw Design, each front rotor will weigh 22lbs, which is still 8lbs lighter then stock. We were thinking of going with a thinner 7075-T6 Aluminum, but then the price would almost double. But we are very happy with this setup now, mainly because of the durability and quality. Hats are bare aluminum right now, but they will be anodized black or maybe a signature color if we get enough requests. There are no plans for rear 2pc rotors at the moment. Pricing looks around $650-700 per set, or $550-600 when sold w/ a Akebono Kit. More News to come :) http://www.conceptzperformance.com/i.../2pcrotor1.jpg http://www.conceptzperformance.com/i...rotorrear1.jpg http://www.conceptzperformance.com/i...torcorner1.jpg http://www.conceptzperformance.com/i...crotortop1.jpg |
I love DBA rotors, this looks like a worthy upgrade for those with stock sport brakes.
|
Yet Another Sneak Peak, don't worry, we will have "Akebono" logo's also, these are just for my 350Z that we are putting on w/ the 2pc Rotors :) Enjoy :)

Update, 2pc Rotors arriving end of this month, more info and pricing soon.
|
So these are the exact same calipers that come on the Sport model?
Is it possible to purchase the calipers by themselves through you, if I wish to procure my own pads and rotors? If so what would pricing be for that? |
very interested.
