STILLEN Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake

Your website says that the G3 intakes will not fit the Nismo. There is someone on here that installed them on his and was able to make them work with very little extra effort. I believe it was moto, but I'll look for the post.

vipor 12-28-2009 11:22 AM

I remember him saying he just had to manually move the vertical plastic barriers a little.

Here's a pic I found:

It's not that they won't fit, it's just not a bolt-on application, and requires some additional modifications, but can be done, several members here have.

It requires removal/modification of an air diffuser / guide plate to the radiator. Presumably this is there for high speed cooling with the longer nose of the Nismo.

We have never tested a Nismo with the plate removed, and can't guarantee there won't be issues with overheating at high speed / track use.

It's more of a precautionary thing on our part. We're not aware of anyone having issues, but until we're able to test it, we don't claim that application for the Gen 3's.

Any update on this issue? Has Stillen confimed any issue with removing the plate?

Josh@STILLEN 08-13-2010 10:15 AM

There are quite a few Nismo's running these without problems, and while we haven't put them through aggressive testing, we don't have any inclination at this point that there would be any problems.

Our engineers have been tied up, and haven't had the chance to add the supplemental step-by-step instructions necessary for the Nismo, which is why we haven't changed the application listing. But there is enough info on this site in the various threads to make this an easy project.

Puma0183 08-22-2010 01:50 PM

I'm interested in group buy if available, and i bet there are a few more members that would be too.

diablokev87 10-05-2010 12:02 AM

Just wondering what the KN filter number would be for this intake. I want to purchase a wrap and install it with the intake. Just need to figure which of these (K&N Air Filter Wraps) i should get.

Thanks.

Josh@STILLEN 10-05-2010 12:36 AM

The K&N filter wrap you're looking for is 22-8044PK - K&N Filter Wraps, Air Filter Wrap

We can provide if interested..

Both the exhaust and intake are in stock, if we shipped today (usually FedEx 2-day to Hawaii) you'd have it on Friday.

Josh I wish I were in Hawaii right now. 96271 is the APO AP zip code for Korea ;) I'll be okay just as long as the shippment doesn't go thru parcel post. Oh yeah when is a good time to call?

Josh@STILLEN 01-05-2011 11:14 PM

LOL.. I'm sorry about that.. Go me for making ASSumptions! :D

Let me run down some options for you, and I can shoot you a PM, and see if we can't make this work..

TripleBlkZ 02-13-2011 01:50 AM

Hey Josh I have been looking at these, is there any addition work required for install on a 2010 roadster like how the Nismo has?

vipor 02-13-2011 06:07 PM

The roadster is identical in the front to the standard Z. Nothing fancy.

Kennyc 03-20-2011 04:14 AM

Peppers 04-06-2011 11:33 PM

Josh@STILLEN 04-07-2011 12:21 AM

PM's sent! thanks guys!

ryanboy 04-13-2011 11:49 AM

Quick question: how often do we have to change the filter? Because with my Nismo, ill have take the bumper off the everytme.

Josh@STILLEN 04-13-2011 11:53 AM

K&N states 50,000 miles for their conical filters, which do carry their 1,000,000 warranty. Enthusiasts typically do it sooner, but you'll be fine at ~30,000 miles, should be a couple years before you'll need to do a clean/re-oil.

More often is just up to you..

ryanboy 04-13-2011 12:29 PM

Thanx

370Z JT 06-26-2011 10:35 PM

Josh

Is it safe for the bottom pipe to be in contact with the AC lines? I did put a rubber tube over the lines though.

Josh@STILLEN 06-27-2011 11:50 AM

The A/C lines us a VERY thin walled aluminum, so metal to metal contact will rub through over time, which is why we recommend rubber or foam insulation, and you'll be fine.

Just ensure that the insulation will for sure not move, it's irritating to have to replace that A/C line and recharge the system.
