If they had franchised Flacco, they could have paid him less plus make him look like the bad guy if he held out. Just sayin'

Nope. With Flacco's new deal, his cap hit is only like $7M for this year. If they franchised him, it would have been easily double that amount and they'd have to cut more people.

daisuke149 03-13-2013 09:00 AM

He will have more of a hit against the cap later years, but they are hoping the cap goes up each year.

still its ridiculously too much.

couldnt afford bolding for 2 mil more.. thats stupid IMO.

Yeah that and they'll probably restructure it like every other team does. Agreed about Boldin. 6th round pick is a steal for him.

We already knew he was going there right after he retired.

b1adesofcha0s 03-13-2013 10:08 AM

Ravens released Bernard Pollard. Patriots need to sign this guy ASAP so he stops injuring all our players on the field. Just hoping he doesn't continue that trend in practice :rofl2:

Bernard Pollard released by Baltimore Ravens - NFL.com

LOL first he blew out Brady's ACL with the Chiefs in 08, he then went on and did damage to I believe welker or someone and couple other hits on Patriot players lol

it appears that Ozzie is clearing room for younger talent to come in.

Nismo89 03-13-2013 11:31 AM

Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider

Ed Reed is definitely not out of the picture for the Ravens. Nothing imminent and Reed is looking around. Fluid situation

and...

Derrick Mason ‏@deemason85

Ravens won a Super Bowl and now r rebuilding in a sense! I believe they did the same thing after last SB win.

First Brady, then Welker, then Gronkowski, and most recently the KO of Ridley. :shakes head:

I wonder how that makes Brady feel. He ate a much smaller contract so the Patriots could keep their talent... then they pull this.

If I'm Brady i'm piiiiiisssssseeeeeedddd

Boo! I really really hope Welker stays in NE. We are screwed if he leaves.

May be a bluff to try and squeeze the Pats. Decker and welker would make a nasty receiving corps though.

That's what I'm hoping for. I don't think Pats expected anyone to make a bid for him. I hope they raise their offer to him if it is true. How pissed will Brady be if he loses Welker to Peyton Manning? I think they will be playing each other next season too.

just like the whole Ed Reed-49er thing. its just a ploy to give him more money. which wont work with Ozzie as we have seen this offseason.

Brady would be pissed!

I am going to bring this up with another buddy who is die hard PATS fan, him and his dad. I bet they will start tripin! :stirthepot:

Yeah they're probably gonna sign him soon. Could be OK in Welker's place if he can manage to stay healthy.

b1adesofcha0s 03-13-2013 04:25 PM

Was a 2 year $12M deal with the Broncos. Did the Patriots go that cheap on their offer? Now this is just sad. Last year they offered him 2 year and $16M deal and he turned it down.

LMBmikeZ 03-13-2013 04:26 PM

Thats a big could be IMO

They could also resign Julian Edelman to take part of Welker's share of targets. He did pretty well when he was healthy last season.

LMBmikeZ 03-13-2013 04:34 PM

LOL just sent text to my buddy he instantly came back with defence, so in other words he's pissed off! I also think I was the one who broke the news to him, which he would have probably checked his NFL app right away! I was literally laughing at it 3 texts in under a min :rofl2:

b1adesofcha0s 03-13-2013 04:36 PM

I'm upset right now, but not quite pissed yet. I'll have to see what the Patriots do with their extra salary cap space first. If they bring in some nice DB's, sign Amendola, and re-sign Edelman I will feel ok about it.
