I think they lost a more than they planned on losing so they actually had money they didn't expect.

haven't been active on this thread..but
can't wait for the season to start!.
Looks like them dolphins are going to try and compete against the pats this year....we will see how that goes once the season starts hehe.

I'm excited to see what the Patriots will do in the draft. I'm about 90% sure they will trade out of the first round with a team trying to pick up a QB. I'm just hoping we can get a good CB and WR.

well they got like a 1st round 29 pick..so I think they will keep it and get a Wr or Cb for sure. they just signed another WR from the Vikings today. Forgot his name.
But yea I can't wait to see what they will do in the draft, and maybe they pick up another free agent or two.

LMBmikeZ 03-28-2013 11:04 PM

At first I thought he was saying Pats were going to pick up a QB LOL

HAHA Naw.
If anything, I think they are shopping their back up QB Mallet for couple round picks.

Exactly. It's at the end of the 1st round, so they could trade a couple spots down into the top of the 2nd round and get another couple picks in later rounds. They only have 5 total picks in the whole draft, which is very abnormal for BB.

They signed Michael Jenkins from the Vikings, but he probably won't even make the final roster. The FA's I'm looking at for us are Emmanuel Sanders from the Steelers or John Abraham from the Falcons. I think both would do well for the Patriots next season.

From what I'm reading, it's more like they want to keep him. If a team wants to give them a 1st or 2nd round pick for him they will gladly trade him, but this isn't likely.

HMM Interesting..well only time will tell about what will happen..
What are your thoughts on welker leaving btw? Im pretty sure you talked about it on the thread already..but just wondering. It was pretty much a Welker-Amendola swap.

I didn't like it, I think they should have matched the Broncos' offer at least. If Amendola can stay healthy and build some good chemistry with Brady, it could be an upgrade over Welker. That's a big if though.

Yea, the chemistry between Welker and Brady is not something you just build right away. It takes time, but hopefully Amendola and Brady can just get in sync right away. However, keep in mind that Amendola is not going to be the #1 WR so as long as he is decent he will be okay. Pats have so many options they even have Hernandez go up on WR sometimes.

Actually if he goes directly into Welker's spot as expected, he will probably be the #1 WR. He's the best WR that's currently on the roster......

Well, unless they get a better receiver between now and the start of the season. But Patrots will figure it out. Edleman might compete for the spot you think?

b1adesofcha0s 03-29-2013 10:34 AM

Nah Edelman is more like a 3rd WR. We haven't had a real #1 WR since the good days if Randy Moss.

Tony Romo gets 6 year $108M contract extension from the Cowboys with $55M guaranteed. I guess they couldn't let the Ravens get all the "most overpaid QB" attention :rofl2:

I don't know why we signed him up for more time. I can't stand him.

All he's ever going to be is "almost" or "potential", then he has a six-interception game.

Jerry Jones is killing me here.

Makes Flacco's contract look like a bargain.

Yeah, when will he give up his involvement in the team and hire a real G.M.?

When he dies.

Hopefully he'll name me an heir. I only want a little bit of money, nothing more. Someone else can have the team and stadium.

Aaron Rodgers is rumored to be getting a contract in the $25M per year range. That will make every other contract look like a bargain. At least he has the talent and resume to warrant such a huge contract.

b1adesofcha0s 03-29-2013 08:18 PM

I heard Tony Romo almost choked on the pen he was using to sign that $108M contract extension.
