falling from 15k feet is the same as falling from 1500 feet or 50 feet. Once you reach maximum velocity, thats it, you cant fall any faster. and yes, he is very lucky.

Hmm... interesting story though, I have never been skydiving but want to. This is my only real concern lol

I wonder how he would have fared if he had hit water instead...

skydivers survive these falls more than other types of long distance falls. mostly because trees or bushes break their fall. what little bit of tangled parachute they have on them actually still slows them down enough to lessen the impact.
