Yeah, but I feel like it would have been much more epic if they fought in Brazil. Damn UN had to ruin that plan :shakes head:

and i bet they were worried about sonnen lol

i think they are gonna have jose aldo fight as the main even instead.... not sure who is a good match up for him at 145 at this point... that class is a bit thin compared to him...

but yeah 148 is stacked for sure... faber better win this damn time..although i found out cruz drives a black edition GTR like mine so i like him a bit more now lol

in other news overeem was expected was denied a license and is barred until atleast late december

I think Silva is going to destroy Sonnen this time. You know he's going to take this fight a lot more seriously and hopefully won't be fighting with an injury.

Don't know who they will be putting up against Aldo, but it won't matter since Aldo will dominate anyway.

Didn't know Cruz drove a black edition GT-R, but that's pretty cool. Come to think of it, I do remember them showing a GT-R in the parking lot on one of the episodes of TUF. I think Cruz is going to beat Faber again.

b1adesofcha0s 05-10-2012 09:51 AM

They did show Cruz driving off in his GT-R with Ronda Rousey in the passenger seat :p

Looks like Cruz tore his ACL and will be out for 6 to 9 months. Faber's going to fight for the interim title instead on July 7th.

Also, it looks like Jones vs Henderson has been booked for September 1st. I can't wait to see this fight!

MC 05-10-2012 01:35 PM

you know you get the impression faber has always been desperate for a UFC belt thus moving down and down until he gets it.... so you would think this would be his sure fire chance...but they are talking about putting him up against than renan barao that dude is legit i think he is like jose aldos/marlon sandro's training partner so that might not be a gimme fight for faber

im curious about the hendo jones fight but at the same time i dont want to see dan destroyed or laying there like machida so i think he has got to make it a dogfight and get it done in the first few minutes... if jones sets the pace it will get ugly

:iagree: I thought the same thing about Faber when he immediately said there should be an interim belt... I personally didn't think he should have gotten an immediate rematch...

And your totally right about the Hendo vs. Jones fight. We saw Hendo hit the wall hard in his fight against Shogun. Jones' cardio is too good, he'll be smart to set a quick pace for the first few rounds (if it lasts that long). Having said that, I'm really pulling for Hendo.

Yeah same feeling here. Like Cruz said though, it's not the real belt, but only the #1 Contender's belt. They definitely waited longer for GSP before putting in an interim title.

I haven't really seen Renan Barao fight, but I would love to see Faber get his azz kicked. I think Cruz vs Faber was good for the new season of TUF, which was probably the main motivation for that fight in the first place.

Hendo's only chance of beating Jones is to catch him with a big punch early. I think Jones will dictate the pace of the fight with his reach and finish Hendo within the first 3 rounds.

Thought this was really awesome of JDS to do. This is how a champion should be acting, not getting arrested for a DUI.

yeah JDS comes of as like the nicest dude ever

was that the kid he was talking to in the latest episode of primetime about coming to the US with him?

Yeah that's what it says in the article. He does seem like a super nice guy.

GaleForce 05-23-2012 10:46 PM

JDS is a class act all the way. I hope he smashes Mir.

MC 05-23-2012 11:31 PM

whats everyones picks?

MAIN CARD (pay-per-view)
Champ Junior Dos Santos vs. Frank Mir (for heavyweight title) i got JDS in under 2 rounds

Antonio Silva vs. Cain Velasquez cain by KO

Dave Herman vs. Roy Nelson i got Roy this i think is giving him a bit of a break after running him though the gauntlet since he won TUF

Shane Del Rosario vs. Stipe Miocic not sure on this one Del Rosario looked ok in strikeforce but not sure

Lavar Johnson vs. Stefan Struve this one i dunno either johnsons got so momentum coming of the pat barry destruction but struves a tough kid... i sort of am leaning toward struve

PRELIMINARY CARD (FX)
Diego Brandao vs. Darren Elkins no idea
Edson Barboza vs. Jamie Varner Barboza by KO i hate varner and he Barboza had that KO of the year at the RIO PPV

C.B. Dollaway vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller i hope mayhem has the bisping fight might have been the worst professional MMA fighter performance ive ever seen

Dan Hardy vs. Duane "Bang" Ludwig hard fight but i got Hardy by KO the skid has to stop at some point

b1adesofcha0s 05-24-2012 08:08 AM

I'm only gonna comment on the fights I really care about:

JDS vs Mir: JDS wins by KO/TKO
Silva vs Velasquez: Velasquez by TKO (Having never seen Silva fight this is just a guess based on Velasquez's skills)
Dollaway vs Miller: I hope Mayhem does a lot better than his fight with Bisping. He has a good entertaining personality but he was just terrible in that fight.

b1adesofcha0s 05-28-2012 10:58 PM

Impressive performances by both Velasquez and JDS setting up what will hopefully more of epic showdown later this year.

Yes, they both looked very good. I was surprised with Nelson too. Dana White was saying that Overeem is still #1 contender. He should be able to figure out how to beat the PED test within his nine month suspension.

Really? I thought I read on Yahoo that he said they were having a rematch by the end of the year. Maybe Overeem will get the winner of their rematch? I honestly don't understand why these fighters take this stuff especially going into a title fight. They know they're going to get tested, so why risk getting caught :shakes head:

It was the latest thing I read. I would rather see JDS vs. Cain II happen first.

Same here.

b1adesofcha0s 06-02-2012 03:05 PM

Ultimate Fighter finale had some pretty good fights. Justin Lawrence (who was my pick to win the season) had an awesome highlight reel KO. Michael Chiesa had a nice submissoin victory to become the TUF champ. At the beginning of the fight I thought Iaquinta was going to take the fight, but Chiesa ended it by putting him to sleep. Kampmann also had an impressive come from behind victory. I thought Ellenberger was going to put him away in the first round, but those knees from the clinch were viscious.

b1adesofcha0s 06-25-2012 07:38 PM

UFC 147 was filled with amazing fights! I didn't keep track of TUF Brazil, but both finale fights were back and forth wars.

Werdum was impressive against Russow and I want to see him go up against more top level heavyweights to see how good he has gotten. Shane Carwin hasn't fought in a while so a fight against him might be pretty good. Mir and Overeem are some other fights that might be good.

Franklin vs Silva was awesome as well. I was hoping Silva would pull out the win in classic Axe Murderer fashion, but it was a great fight nonetheless.

b1adesofcha0s 06-25-2012 07:41 PM

Also I CAN NOT WAIT until Silva vs Sonnen II. Don't think I've ever been excited this much for a fight before. I think Silva will destroy Sonnen since he (hopefully) won't be fighting with a cracked/bruised rib. He is definitely a lot more motivated to kill Sonnen this time around and a motivated Anderson Silva is impossible to beat.

Dude, given how their last fight went, I also cannot wait to see this one. Who can solve the Spider? He's cleaned out the entire weight class :roflpuke2:

If my cousin is busy and for some strange reason doesn't want to watch the fight live, I'm so down for a Mid-A UFC fight night, even if it's just you and me there.

GaleForce 06-25-2012 08:06 PM

At first I was like you guys, very, very, excited to see the rematch. Now, not so much. I really think Silva is going to smoke Sonnen. Silva won't make the same mistakes again, and Chael looked bad against Bisping, of all people. Don't get me wrong though, I'm pulling for Chael to win.

I think Silva will smash Sonnen as well and I can't wait to see it happen. Silva is by far my favorite fighter and I love to watch him do his thing.

For me it's not so clear after Silva. As I keep watching UFC I see new fighters getting better and better and watch other people I've never seen before and instantly love their fighting style. I'd say after Silva for me would be Shogun, Jon Jones, JDS, and Aldo in some order. So many, I can't decide :icon17:

I would still love to see Silva vs GSP before he retires. I think Silva would win, but it would be a great fight.

I can't stand shogun. don't know why either. just don't enjoy watching him. For a period of time I loved watching lyoto because he was so different.

For me Shogun's fights are a hit or miss. When he's at his best, I love the way he fights. At other times he just looks sloppy and out of shape. I think he could have done better against Jones, but his fight against Henderson was amazing. I really thought he had won that last fight, but it was a close one.

:iagree: 100%

Love Machida for his Karate.

When he takes it seriously, I think Silva is nearly unbeatable, he's just a freak of nature. GSP is the most technically sound, but if someone could get a solid shot on his chin I think he could go down; connecting is another story. We'll see how he is when he comes back. Bones Jones is still developing, but I'm glad we might finally have a true champion in that class.

GaleForce 06-25-2012 08:52 PM

There is no doubt that Silva is a great fighter, but I lost a lot of respect for him when he was doing just enough in the first 2-3 rounds to win, then spending the rest of the fight back pedaling or dancing.

I like Machida's fighting style as well and was kind of hoping he would beat Jones. After the Jake Shields fight, GSP doesn't seem to be quite as dominant as I thought he was before. I know he tried to put on a little weight for that fight and it did seem to slow him down enough that he wasn't at his best.

It's scary when you think about how good Jon Jones can get with more experience considering he's still relatively early in his MMA career. If anyone has a chance to be as dominant as Anderson Silva has been, it is definitely him. He does seem to come off as really "fake" and arrogant, which I don't like, but as a fighter he is simply amazing.

Yeah, Machida had Jones in the first round, I was hoping he'd pull it out too. I worry about GSP, I think he might be on the downhill with his injury.

Definitely agree with you on Jones, he has incredible potential. I'm not sure about him as a person. I thought he seemed awesome, but the DUI certainly didn't help...

It kind of bothered me too. Who knows why he does it, maybe he just gets bored during the fights from the lack of competition. Seems like he's only like that when he's not motivated for a fight, like when they put some weak azz people against him. I'm definitely not approving of that kind of behavior, but it is what it is.
