Roy Nelson is bound to be up there soon. I like him. His only loss in the UFC was to JDS in a decision. I believe.

Yes, he is the only fighter (in the UFC) to go the distance with JDS.

He's got a ridiculous chin, but he also lost to Werdum by decision back in February.

MC 12-28-2012 10:37 AM

roy also lost to Mir he is top 5 at this point.. i would like to see him fight daniel cormier next

carwin went the distance too against JDS but the ref should have stopped it in the 1st as he had his orbital socket broke

I would think Nelson vs. Pat Barry would be an interesting fight. I don't see it happening though.

Nelson's become like a gate keeper for the HW division. What I want to see is Werdum getting some fights against top 5 HWs. He's looked impressive in his fights since moving to the UFC.

There are a bunch of really good fights for Werdum right now but TUF brazil is holding things up.

Edit: 100% agree with you about Nelson. Hard to see him get a title shot again, especially considering his relationship with Dana.

I don't think Nelson will get a title shot. He's good, but I don't think he's at the championship level. He's lost all of his fights against top caliber opponents and they weren't even close. He was pretty much a punching bag in all of them. I think if he ever got motivated enough to get in better shape, he could be a very dangerous LHW. Don't think we'll ever see that though.

The Jim Miller Jon Lauzon fight was a great bloody battle.

SPOHN 12-29-2012 11:49 PM

Give it to Cain and JDS. Two tough guys by far.

But as I thought Cain FTW cause he just had the stamina. He pressed the fight from the get go and JDS just gassed at the end of the first. Amazing it went 5 rounds for a HW bout. JDS never gave up. Much props.

Now I want to see Cain take Overeem retarded a$$ out.

MC 12-30-2012 12:19 AM

i cannot believe JDS survived that first round shot that was like a fedor to brett rodgers KO shot he took. fight was pretty much over after that as he never recovered. i have to admit i was surprised it turned into a beating like that. im sitting here watching cain talk on the fuel post show and besides a few scratches he doesnt even look like he fought tonight

co main was great

rest of the card sucked except for the Leonard Garcia fight.. he got screwed in the decision though

I sense cain vs overeem near cinco de mayo weekend... my boy is gonna put one of those knees on cain and take him out

Uh no. I have no respect for Overeem. Especially after getting busted for illegal substance. That doesn't say much for his hole past. He's just another big guy with no stamina. Funny how he was a LW class and over the years he's 260lbs. He has lost to guys you never you never would of thought of (Chuck Liddell for one). But we'll see in time. That's all we can say. I just see something in Cain that makes him surperior.

JDS did take some big shots. His face was like a meat grinder.

b1adesofcha0s 12-30-2012 05:55 PM

That was an awesome effort by Velasquez, but JDS showed a lot of heart going through that fight. I'm amazed he wasn't finished after that hit in the first round. He definitely needs to work on his cardio/conditioning before his inevitable rematch with Velasquez. Might be a year or two down the road, but it will happen. I think Velasquez will handle Overeem, especially when he's off those roids.

TheGreatOne 01-02-2013 11:33 AM

Thankfully those last two fights saved the card.

Miller/Lauzon was quite a war, Joe has so much heart, same with Dos Santos, I didn't think he'd make it out of the 1st round, glad he did though as I had money on it going past the first round. Cain set a pace that Junior had no idea how to deal with

I actually am an Overeem fan but Cain is not a good match up for him, I want to see what he does against Big Foot first.

b1adesofcha0s 01-02-2013 11:36 AM

Silva just signed a new 10 fight deal with the UFC. Looks like Bisping will get the next shot at him if he can beat Belfort later this month.
