Monaco is a spectacle, glitz and glamour. The race is nothing more than an exhibition. It still considered a bucket list race to when because of its history and prestige. The big three spectacles are; the Indy 500, Lemans and Monaco.

I went every year from the late '80s until 2013 or whatever year the new hybrid era started. They sound like crap and really took away much of the excitement. My analogy is like hearing Jimi Hendrix play an acoustic guitar. He's still good but much of the fire is gone. After hearing those screaming Ferrari V-12s and later V-10s revving to 19K these new cars just don't have that visceral punch. You could actually feel each gearshift in your gut. Our seats were at the hairpin and the backfires on the downshifts sounded like cannons. I really miss that.

When will Grosjean go back to baking baguette instead of Racing f1? O.o

ayrton88 06-11-2018 04:56 PM

Even adding a third DRS zone couldn't help that crashing bore of a race. F1 needs to go back to ground effects and screw all the wings that do nothing but add to cost and destroy racing.

Best move in Canada was a team effort. Ricciardo's flying in lap and the Red Bull over cut by Ricciardo and his crew at the pits on Hamilton. Fantastic team output.

This is what F1 has become. It's really not about drivers being able to determine their destiny it's about if you can time your pit stops properly and get the right tire combination. I miss wheel to wheel racing. F1 could learn something from IndyCar when it comes to that.

Well I think they are doing good, the Bernie-age is over now and the new owner seems to have a lot of plans. Like he said in an interview before the race: "F1 needs to become cheaper, louder and faster - thats what the fans want. We have already pushed through some changes in the last 12 months and that's just a very early start on everything we have planned"
