shop that can build circuit for evo r foglight
If any so Cal member knows any shop that can build a circuit for evo r flash kit
Basically flash 3 times then solid on And within 10 secs after stepping on brakes the light just comes on solid (instead of flashing) Then after the 10 sec the circuit will allow the brake to flash again. There's a YouTube video. Need to find it but he has that configuration and its awesome. Found out that cannot be done unless set up on a circuit/diode State of CA does not allow any more than 3 brake flashes. So any help would be great! |

I have a friend in Maryland that used to build/design test circuits at NASA.... This sound like it would be pretty simple for him to figure out. I will ask him about it when get home from his vacation.
Maybe he can build a couple prototypes, or provide some plans anyone with a bit of soldering skills can build. I'll let you know... |
Subscribing... - I would be very interested on this as well..

Slightly off topic, but is there a way to lower the brightness for the standard fog light? I need a simple solution so I don't piss off people behind me when it's a clear night and still have it function when it really does get "foggy" or raining. I currently have it wired to the license plate frame, so it's pretty much on when the lights are on. So basically, my thoughts were to get a switch of some kind or apply a tint to the lens so its not so bright. The later would kind of diminish some of its intended functionality however.

Here's a link to a do-it-yourself guide for what you guys are trying to achieve:
http://downloads.deusm.com/designnew...dget102504.pdf It's pretty simple to make if you know how to solder and have access to a good local electronics supplier. |
I've got this feature on my center brake light. It was a pre assembled unit that was under thirty bucks delivered. I can't remember the vendor, I'll check my receipt file and post the information tomorrow.

Ok, video is a problem as I struggle to upload simple photos.
At the time I got mine they offered (as I recall) three models, constant flash, flash three times then constant, and flash three times then constant with an 8-10 second delay on the flash only (constant always works) on a second brake application. The idea on the last one is if you are in stop and go traffic the triple flash isn't going off (in the face of the driver behind you) on repeated, quick, brake applications. I got the third one. I connected it to the hatch mounted stoplight but you can hook it up just about any way that you want. It's self powered, no separate power source is required. The flash feature looks "normal and natural" if that makes sense, my wife even liked it. KAHTEC Blinking Smart Stop PN# 301-2003-11f. $29.22 delivered to So. Cal. Supplier: Alan Humphrey ach911@austin.rr.com I got mine in August of 2010 so I don't know how current this info is. |
Great find Guard Dad! Blinking Smart Stop - Flashing Brake Light

Glad I had something constructive to offer. This is a cheap mod, kind of cool and it might actually save your butt, what's not to like?

Was it easy to install? I went to the link that Adam posted and it's only $24.50. :)

Here are the instructions for using it with your 3rd break light. http://www.kahtec.com/images/SStop_new_diag.gif But not sure if there are any modifications to the circuit you'd need to make if you where taping into your break light wires to run this with the fog light... Anyone have advice on that? |
Very easy to install. If you've done any mods you should be able to do this one easily.
The $29.22 price was a delivered price. Parts were $23.95 and shipping was $5.27 for a total of $29.22. Installation is cut and clip, super easy. |
Amazing! I'm getting my headlights done this weekend and this will be next on my priority list.

So I went ahead and contacted the company through email in regards to the way I wanted the circuit and here's what I received in response early this morning:
Hi Francis - This could be done as a special the cost would be $50.00 Plus the price of a delay unit $24.50 ex S&H "To be totally honest we do not see any advantage with this product as our current delay product blinks 6 x in 2.2 seconds if we were to change the amount of flashes say to 3 flashes it would be about 1second the reason for our 6 flashes is its ability to seen and processed by the driver following and the react and act accordingly, the delay of about 8 seconds or 10 should not be relevant. Remember Be Seen - Be Safe - Be Blinking Smart Kelly KAHTEC Sales Team" Going to contact them again to see if we can get 3-4 flashes within 3 secs then solid on.. 6 flashes within 2.2 secs is too many for CA regulations and would be pretty annoying to the car in the rear. hoping to get a GB going so we can get the cost down. |

Plus i kind of WANT to annoy the car behind me, so that they are paying attention and dont rear end me. :roflpuke2: also, the only light flashing would be the 4th light, the fog light, so it shouldn't be too bad? If you send them another email, could you ask them if there needs to be anything different to the circuit if we are piggybacking the fog light off of one of the normal brake lights??? i would assume there would need to be some sort of isolation between the brake light and the Kahtec unit? Thanks again for the extra research!!!! :tiphat: |

PS btw.. Cop pulled me over and informed me that state of CA does not allow constant flashing and 3-4 times are allowable.. thus the reason why I want to have the circuit modified a bit. |
