Oh how I miss the Ojai 33 run back in the days when I was sporting a motorcycle. Out of all the roads in SoCal this one is tops for the mere fact that no one drives it, as in it's not a normal commute highway. Which leaves it wide open balls out road to run. I recall this road from the book that came out in the eighties called The Best Roads in California. A definite keeper book for any car or motorcycle enthusiast. The books states dont go down on this road because you will be dead by the time any ambulance reaches you as the road is deep into no mans land.
Have fun guys! Wish I were there! |
My daughter and son in law use to live there.
Heads up----- "Watch out for pedestrians"! Pedestrians have the right of way in the cross walks. Yes I know you know that. But in Ojai, that law is strictly enforced. |

So getting an oil cooler is highly recommended, I got that. I drove Latigo back in January and managed to get the temps up to 240-260 but didn't go into limp mode. With spring and summer just around the corner, engine oil temps are at the forefront of my thoughts when I drive.
In preparation for Ojai, I'm debating right now between the Stillen 19-core and 25-core. I drive the street pretty hard and I enjoy spirited weekend canyon runs (ie Turnbull, GMR, and Malibu). I'm also thinking of hitting up some of the parking lot events in Irwindale for some autocross/gymkhana action. Would it be overkill to get the 25-core if I don't plan on doing any engine mods? My other concern is having cold engine oil, I'm not even sure what the optimal engine oil temps are for the VQ37VHR? Right now I'm lined up to pick up the 19-core oil cooler kit from Stillen next Saturday. Anyone care to chime in? Also, this is kind of a silly question to ask. I recently had my first oil change at 2600 miles and so far I've driven about ~500 miles. Would it be advisable to reuse that oil after I install the oil cooler kit? In other words, drain all of the oil into a clean pan, install the kit, and refill with the same oil and add in some additional oil to compensate for the lines and cooler. Thanks guys. |
i say get the 25 row.
|
25 row without a doubt, I run it and never break 220 even with Triple's on my bumper. :)

Heck yeah brotha!
Also, I will continue to call CHP to make sure the road condition remains good, I decided taking Cero Noroeste Rd instead of Lockwood Valley is best since Lockwood has a couple of river crossings and dirt unpaved sections. |
