Put me down for maybe.

christian370z 01-08-2011 02:02 AM

Update the OP with Malibu meet details. I will figure out potential routes but will drive through the canyons before to scout conditions next week.

its worth it :).

Ugh, I need to hurry up and get my oil cooler too. Damn :rofl2:

christian370z 01-09-2011 06:14 PM

Took a quick spin through Latigo and is was in good shape, my friend said Decker is good as well. Bump for attendance, come on regulars!

Kenny 01-09-2011 06:27 PM

Count me in.

djamalt 01-09-2011 11:09 PM

I'm 95% in! (the ol lady is trying to plan something for the weekend that could possibly - though unlikely - interfere)

Chris, or anyone else in the area, would you happen to know if Tuna is re-opened?

Oh, and do we have a route locked in?

Oh, and do we have a route locked in?

I don't know if Tuna is open, I will call CHP or something to check tomorrow. There is no set route at the moment but I have a few in mind we could do, it is just hard to avoid repetition so it would be nice if you can come as we can all use our knowledge to figure it out then... Or maybe I will PM you some ideas mid week when I figure out the road conditions.

Even the meeting spot? I have been careful not to post any route info but I can see why it might be good to keep the meeting location a little more DL.

I have full faith that NONE of the guys here would ever do anything reckless. We all verbally confirm that no one should over drive themselves or their cars, as well as staying within their respective lane at all times unless an emergency arises.

XwChriswX 01-11-2011 09:05 AM

Come hell or high water, And since we're not in Australia, we don't have to worry about the high water... and I live in Phoenix, close enough to hell to get their mail, I guess I have to come to this run hahahaha! :icon17:

So it will be a late night arrival Friday, but I will make it. So be ready! :stirthepot:

Christian - Do we have a finalized route picked out? Will it have stops along the way or is it go, stop to turnaround, back? :driving:

I wanna try to mount the GoPro in different spots to get some different angles. That's why I ask. Also depending on my spot in line, will determine whether or not I can get your Z on there.

Drew2 - You and me need to get together when we join up so I can compare my settings on my GoPro to make sure I get the same quality as your vids.

christian370z 01-11-2011 10:33 AM

Hey Chris, I will have a finalized route chosen tomorrow and will PM anyone who requests it if needed. We always build in a few rest stops and that will ring true for this meet!

I can't wait to really try out my GoPro too, I use R5 which is the 1080p setting but the biggest difference in video quality is if you find a video editing program that allows you to adjust contrast and saturation as those are the biggest killers in terms of video quality on the GoPro.

Usually its the Motorcyclists that are the biggest douches... I don't know of any of our guys who do this.

Sweetness! I just wanna make sure to try and get different angles, and a Front looking/Rear looking shot so we can get the whole line on film.

I hate generalizing but motorcyclists are tied as the worst of all motorists period. Lane splitting at 30+mph in dead locked traffic on 405, driving through canyons like they own the road and generally acting like they are above the law. The only people who come close are the nincompoops texting or reading stuff while driving. Ugh... (/rant)

Nice ideas on the mounting location, since I generally lead I am really excited to try out a rear facing mount on the hatch glass as well as interior shots but we shall see!

I hear you man, I thought the first week or two of classes will be slow but nope. I already have two papers due on friday. WHY!!!

Kenny 01-11-2011 04:44 PM

Christian, I'd like a copy of the finalized route. I'm pretty sure I won't be there by 7:00 am. I have enough trouble getting to my weekday morning class at 10:45 am. Perhaps I could catch up you guys mid-morning. I don't mind sharing the road w/ other cars and motorcyclists as I always stay in my lane. I'm still breaking-in my Z and will be following the speed limit.

christian370z 01-11-2011 07:13 PM

Sure thing Kenny, I will get that out to you! Trust me though, as a fellow college student it is worth the painful 5:30am alarm!

Dreezy562 01-12-2011 10:27 AM

Don't worry. You won't be the only one without one lol. Whenever we make stops, you'll see who does/does not have one. It will be unmistakable. :rofl2:

Will add you to the OP, congrats on making it through brake in! Now let the real games begin... You won't really need an oil cooler depending on how hard you drive (both what the conditions permit as well as your comfort level) but there were times where I would have easily hit limp mode if I did not have a cooler.

It makes a huge difference as my oil temps went from 260-270 down to 220 at most, and that is driving the car as hard as I could while the 260-270 was tame in comparison. Chris is speaking the truth, wait till you watch who puts their hoods up or not. :icon17:

christian370z 01-12-2011 04:51 PM

If anyone needs the route map, I have that available so PM me if interested. I will also print out a number of hard copies for the run itself to distribute, it includes the rest stops as well.
