This may sound stupid, but could there be anything in the mic itself? Dust dirt etc... I would say google mics for reviews, figure out which one is the best and is compatible with your deck, then come to my house and we can install it and save you some money.

Also, where is the mic placed in your car? It may be possible to just move it to a better location for more clarity. Just a thought

its the stock mic that came with the nav system and it's done this since the car was brand new....so dust/dirt are no factor. The stock mic is up in the middle of the dome lights. After talking to Nissan, i discoverd there is an update to the system that i don't have yet which may have an effect on it. Going to do that first and see what happens.

i wonder what size it is.. i could go to skycraft and just buy a few of the mic elements if the size is the same or will fit in the same spot and then wire it up. What updates were done? can you post them up? :-) mine does the same thing.
