August 20th SC/NC Mountain meet, drive, and eat

Let's get the Zs together!

When: August 20th at 12pm

Where: Sunset, SC. Intersection of highway 11 and highway 178. Mobil gas station.

Why: To get as many local Z enthusiast together for a fun day of driving, eating, taking pictures, hanging out, and raising some money for the forum. For those that wish to participate, each person will be donating $0.10 per mile driven and/or $1 per beer comsumed.

Our plan is to meet up in the morning. Head out for some driving. Along the way hopefully find some great spots to get a group shot. (if anyone knows any great photo op spots around Lake Jocassee please post it up) We have no set route just a general guideline of places we would like to drive. We will definitely be making a couple of passes up Caesar's Head. (It's a great twisty road for those that have never had opportunity.) If you have suggestions for other great roads in the area please feel free to post them up. After we get tired of driving and photos, the plan is to meet for dinner and drinks in downtown Greenville.

Everyone is invited so bring your friends.

Please post in this thread if you are a definite or maybe.

I'm thinking on the way back into Greenville we should definitely hit Paris Mountain. I lived up there for a couple of years. It's a great road.

I'm thinking we should take highway 11 up to
E Fork Rd over to
276 Hang out at Caesars Head
Then follow 276 down to Travelers Rest where we can Pick up Paris Mountain.

According to Google that's just under 2 hours driving time so we could always add or take out certain roads.

Post up your ideas!

What time does everyone want to get downtown Greenville (afternoon, evening for dinner)? Once we decide on this we can establish more of a set time to meet.

Whatever you all want is fine with me. Meeting at 11 or 12 might help out the people coming from a distance?

I guess it just depends on how much driving you all want to do. I know I would like to hit Caesars head a couple of times and Paris mountain (if we go to Greenville)

Well I know there is not a lot of places in the area to grab lunch (if any) if we meet early. Just a thought but if everyone eats a big breakfast or early lunch we could meet at 11 or 12 and be downtown Greenville around 4 or 5. This might also help out the people that are traveling so they can get back home at a desent hour. Any thoughts or votes on this?? Or Will can start a meeting time poll 10,11,12,1 lol!

Anyone into donating a small percentage from our cruise to the forum :ughdance: This is a pretty cool forum (and we are the most active eastern region) so maybe we could do 10cents per mile or something. 8 cars doing 100 miles would give $80 bucks. Every little bit helps?

HKYStormFront 07-20-2011 08:10 AM

sounds reasonable to me...

We can do 10 cent a mile and a dollar a beer we drink after the meet.

Duncanz 07-20-2011 07:53 PM

Ready to ride. I use to ride sport bikes all over that area and towards 211 (I think that was it) either way I'm ready.

Don't worry. I added it to the main page with the "and/or." :bowrofl:

ClemsonWill 07-21-2011 02:33 PM

We are officially less than a month away. Doesn't look like my car will be tuned by then though. Weekends are booked! ugh!

Anyone know some roads in the area that we should definitely hit for either a photo op or driving?

HKYStormFront 07-21-2011 02:39 PM

should i post this on carolina z club's page? are we limiting this to just 370's? just Z's? just nissan's?

I am going to contact Southeastoverland.com out of Seneca to see if there are any more good roads and spots for pics

v8killa 07-21-2011 06:08 PM

i think for photo purposes we should do just 370s but while we ride i think inviting 350s would be fun.....since i was a prior owner of a 05 and 08 :) i know a couple of nice ones in the charleston area that might be interested if everyone is ok with this?

Thats kinda what I was thinking. Last thing I want to do is follow 20 cars up the mountain at 35 mph.:shakes head:

v8killa 07-22-2011 06:51 AM

copy that 370z only

ClemsonWill 07-22-2011 07:11 AM

v8killa 07-22-2011 01:22 PM

35 mph only if we are driving in reverse.

Thats kinda what I was saying earlier. There is not much if any places to grab some lunch in that area. We only really have two options A) meet early and take 276 over Caesars head to Brevard and eat lunch there or B) meet a little later and stretch it out ending up in Greenville a little sooner. What ever yall want to do. Option B might help with people travelling though. Either way im just ready to :driving:

Baer383 07-22-2011 07:31 PM

Too much talking not enough :driving:
