On a side note. There is a rattle IN my driver door, in the back top corner of it [closest to my ear]. I say IN it because I removed the door panel and it was still there. Its driving me insane. And now my ECU is having the awesome high pitch annoy the **** out of you want to go kill yourself wtf is happening sound.

All of this after my warranty ran out.

Only one way out:stirthepot:

For the ecu whine, the dealer should take care of it even out of warranty. It's pretty common and well known as a flaw.

For the rattle, you're probably sol. I fixed it once by getting a piece of crap out with a magnet, but the next time it happened I could not get rid of it to save my life....

Hmm... magnet, I haven't thought of that. I have a pretty powerful magnet I might try to see if it will make it stop..

The rattle bothers me more than the whine. Is there a TSB out for the whine?

Red__Zed 12-19-2011 02:11 PM

I don't think there's a tsb, but it's a "known issue" like 5th gear. I think it was all the ecus with a PN ending with an A are bad....they should note it as pre-existing and take care of you

I plan to give the FR-S/BRZ some seat time when it makes it to dealerships. I know its no 5.0, or 400hp beast.. But I think it could be a fun little car. All depends how the 200hp feels at 2700lbs.

Roll tide!

Parkerman 01-11-2012 10:00 PM

Haha, Damn straight!

Btw, Meet is the 20th at PF Changs at 5:30.

Red__Zed 01-11-2012 10:03 PM

I'll be traveling again for this next meet, but I swear I still have that clutch spring for ya.

Parkerman 01-11-2012 10:05 PM

Its cool man.

On a side note... I want to fill my driver side door with spray foam to stop this rattling... Its horrible.

Red__Zed 01-11-2012 10:12 PM

Where's the rattle coming from? Still the top?

No luck with the magnet?

Did this just start, or did it always do this?

Parkerman 01-12-2012 10:13 AM

Its slowly gotten worse over time.

Yep, still at the top... Top rear of the driver side door. Couldn't get the magnet to work.. Might try again though.

Did a search and others have this problem too.

Have you tried swinging the door open and seeing if there's any play up and down compared to the passenger size?

The reason I say this is that I've got a rattle like this on one of my 95 Altimas and it's actually a small plastic bushing on the hinge.
