The g/f is trading her 350Z in this week for a Magma Red 370Z!
If anyone is interested in getting a good deal on either a 2006 350Z Grand Touring Manual in Interlagos fire or a 2004 VW Beetle Convertible Turbo let me know. Also willing to part out her rims for some stockers + cash. They are Rims are Varrstoen 5.5.2.'s ,19x9.5 +1 and 19x10.5 +3 with adaptec 19mm adapters.

For those not on fb- any of you have experience with cops and the color of your license plate lamp?

I want to do purple and I'm trying to anticipate whether I'll get pulled over for it lol

316.224 - - 2011 Florida Statutes - The Florida Senate

316.224 Color of clearance lamps, identification lamps, side marker lamps, backup lamps, reflectors, and deceleration lights.—
(3) All lighting devices and reflectors mounted on the rear of any vehicle shall display or reflect a red color, except the stop light or other signal device, which may be red, amber, or yellow, and except that the light illuminating the license plate shall be white and the light emitted by a backup lamp shall be white or amber. Deceleration lights as authorized by s. 316.235(5) shall display an amber color.
(4) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Short answer, yes it is illegal and they can give you a ticket. Whether they will depends on the cop and time I suppose.
Maybe hook the purple set up to a switch and if you see any cops switch it back to white?

Here's my two cents on the matter based on personal experience.

Back in the day, just out of high school, cruising the stomping grounds in my sexy white 2003 Sentra SE-R, I happen to pass an pleasant officer going in the other direction with my L.E.D. ground light kit on.

At that moment, the color that was on was white; yes I had a seven color L.E.D. setup with about 5 different possible chase modes available, many combinations, it was awesome, in my 18yr old mind..:driving:

Well needless to say, that po-po pulled a U-ey as fast as he could, and pulled my sorry glowing *** over.

This is where my edumacation begins on exterior aftermarket lighting.

Had this nice long print out with FEDERAL codes and laws on it, something I later researched online in more detail.

Turns out, if it didn't come on the car, it's illegal, period. OEM is ok, like if you had fog light holes, with no fog lights on a base model car, and later plugged in the OEM kit, that's all good.

But aftermarket, especially anything without D.O.T. stamped on it, flat out illegal, regardless of color.

Federal trumps state, any day of the week, and the D.O.T. & Federal laws are no joke when it comes to this matter. :tup:

Don't read to much into this, basically there are a lot of cars out there doing what they want, and their local enforcement could care less, however, if you get a ticket, you will lose - it's simply the law, if it didn't come on the car, its not allowed to be. <<< Lighting (not other mods)

PS, when you paint that orange reflector in the headlight housing, or clear it, guess what, ya illegal.. :happydance:

Ill say the same thing I said on FB, its illegal, and an officer in florida aboslutely can use it as an excuse to pull you over. That being said, its likely only to be the State Troopers that give you issues, but TBH, why? Its something you will never see while driving, and will probably look kinda cheesy when parked, so id say just be safe and dont do it.

Use the money for something more fun, like an exhaust :tup:

The lights are cheap so I thought it'd be cute. I've decided I'll just put it on a switch for when I feel like being daring. Lol

Nice exhaust, love mine, makes driving even that more fun :)
