The Official FLORIDA Thread

We have one of these for Arizona where we talk about local events, local shops and what-not... I'm moving to Florida next month so thought I'd start an official Florida thread!

Jump in and contribute however you like - I have no plans to moderate or limit content...

Selfishly, however, I'd like to hear from people about autocross and road course racing and time trial events... Which tracks do you run at, with which clubs, what shops do you use, etc.

Cheers!

Hi Travis,

First of all, where in Florida are you moving to? If you're moving to Central Florida there are road courses at the Central Florida Racing Complex Also, a lot of folks around here go to Orlando Speed World to race down the 1/4 mile.

As far as clubs, i'm in XECOFL We have meets quite often; recently a group of us drove up to Daytona for the Rolex 24, was awesome. 4Motion mentioned Juno, they have a local club also. But we've all been out to the same meets before.

If you're looking for shops let me know and i can probably refer you to some.

PS--where in fl are you moving to?

Cool, thanks! I am moving to the Gulf Coast... somewhere in the Bradenton / Sarasota area - not sure exactly where yet... who is Juno?

I'll check those out, thanks! I'm really not at all into quarter miles... but will look into CFRC... are there opportunities to run at Sebring???

We're located in central Florida :) if you guys need anything let me know. Plus we'd be interested in throwing a Nissan/Infiniti meet (370z, 350z, GT-R, G35, G37, etc) in the near future let me know what you guys think.

Juno 02-11-2011 12:28 PM

Welcome to FL!

CFRC isn't really doing the road course thing anymore. It's mostly drag racing and drifting.

The only two tracks I've done in FL are Sebring & Daytona. Lots of organizations run Sebring, so just keep an eye out for the info. Daytona, not so much, so if you get the opportunity, jump on it.

For autocross, check out the SCCA site. I know there's a group over in your area, but I'm not sure about the details.

Since you're moving to the west coast, you should check out the Z Club of Florida. They are a very active group based in Tampa.

Also, not sure when you'll be getting here, but if it's before May you should definitely make plans to attend ZDayz up in NC. ZCon and Z Nationals will also be coming up in a few months.

Since you will be in and around the tampa area you can visit www.zclubofflorida.net. Originally it was a 350z club but has expanded and seems to be getting large. I just joined last month but have met a great group of individuals and they get together all the time. They usually have the hookup of what is going on around the area.

Ditto, we use to host road course events at CFRC but drag and drift took over since it brings out more people thus more cash for the owner. Quite a pity actually. Anyways go with Sebring or Daytona

I mean we don't have anything planned but if you guys want to get something rolling I can definately make things happen. We haven't done a meet in about a year but we'd like to start them up again.

Check out or last major meet:

we're thinking of either throwing one in March/April... though it might be too hot by then, or if not later after August somewhere in September or October when its cooler. We've thrown meets all around the year and turnout is always at its best during the cooler months, let me know what you guys think
