Yeah LTH's on 370's are obnoxious loud, even with a good exhaust/muffler setup. My roommate a few years ago had that on his 370 and it shook the damn house during cold start idling.

Zensation 01-12-2015 02:10 PM

AHHHH so antsy to get the BRAP-mobile running! the final piece to my build to get her running should be here Friday. This week is gonna go by so slow.

But then it can go really fast :stirthepot:

Also FWIW, be really sure you want LTH before you pull the trigger. They are awesome, but LOUD! Seriously loud. Especially if paired with a small or non-resonated exhaust.

hmm i guess it's really hard to find a local person that i could hear the LTH's in person. i have the biggest resonators that fast intentions offer, and also in stainless which is supposedly not as loud as carbon fiber. i understand cold start would be loud. Didn't you have HFC's i believe? I'm not sure how much louder LTH's are than those

Do you know what kind of resonators he had?

HKYStormFront 01-14-2015 02:49 PM

I'm asking him now, I know it was a FI catback, I'm not sure which cans he had. I believe they were the larger stainless as well. I don't remember them being the CF ones.

Having said that, I think the CF ones sound awesome (there's probably little difference honestly). They have a slightly different sound, it's not quite as metallic or sharp especially when jumping up and down in revs. The LTH's and exhaust that my roommate had were crazy loud on startup but just had a slight burble at warm idle and while there was a lout of noise in the cabin from the exhaust, they didn't really drone much.

thanks i def appreciate you finding out - would you after cold start it seems reasonable? i'm just scarred from hearing eternally loud all the time hondas around here haha

HKYStormFront 01-15-2015 09:58 AM

He had the FI catback with 18" resonators, the smaller ones I believe. Let's put it this way, if you are worried about disturbing the neighbors, I wouldn't get it because it's that loud on startup. If you aren't, it's probably fine. The sound is great, there's just a lot of it. Not that raspy Honda-ish sound.

djtodd 01-15-2015 05:09 PM

Even after cold start it's loud. It sounds great, but it's just turned up to eleven...thousand. Seriously, I love em on a race car, but it's a bit over the top for all but the most committed street cars. IMO, the resonated HFCs plus the cf CBE is the best sounding option out there. Of course I'm a bit biased. It's loud when you hoon it, and tame when idle or cruising.

HKYStormFront 01-15-2015 07:45 PM

I heard Nissan didn't show up to the auto show this year. I swear it keeps getting smaller and smaller. You see more at C&C.

I didn't go but I've heard the same from others.

HKYStormFront 01-17-2015 09:22 PM

Yeah there is no Nissan presence that I have heard of or seen on their social media.

Also........... Geoff's car is not feeling strong anymore :( We're taking it to the hospital in Asheville tomorrow

Zensation 01-18-2015 09:21 AM

It's true apex seals seem to be fine but boost spike popped a corner seal. The bad news is it took out my turbine wheel as well. :(

Huge bummer man, sorry to hear. Was the car tuned or was it still in the process?

jay hapy 01-18-2015 09:28 PM

Hello, fellow S-Carolina z owners. Good to be here... I hope the trip to Asheville solves the z's prob to. -jay-

djtodd 01-18-2015 09:29 PM

Welcome Jay. Where are you located?

We were out doing pulls on the highway (in Mexico of course!) tuning it. It was pulling really strong. Had a little bit of break up but we were working on that. Then we had a huge boost spike a pop goes the weasel basically. We towed it up to a shop near Asheville yesterday for a rebuild. The guy there, who pretty much only works on rotary engines, said that if it blew a corner seal the way it happened, whoever rebuilt it last (just before Geoff bought the car) either didn't do a good job or didn't put the parts they said they did in the motor. We'll find out today as he said he would have the engine out and torn down by this afternoon...

Zensation 01-19-2015 01:06 PM

Well the verdict is in and its not good. BUT it could be worse!!! First off The shop that did the previous rebuild lied to me and not only did they lie but they performed an abomination to rebuilds. The used factory mazda 3 piece seals which havnt even been manufactured in 10 years. The left out some seals and steve (my newly acclaimed rotary mechanic) was surprised it even developed intake pressure. Little nuts and bolts missing everywhere and internal engine seals poorly installed.

The bad:
gouged out rear rotor housing and burred up rotor as well and some chipped apex seals..

The Fix:

Full on half bridge ports for high boost capability and new borg warner s363 turbo good for 800 hp on a 1.3 liter (once I have all the supporting mods). add meth injection to get 93 pump gas up to 105-110 octane so I don't have to use race gas. all with a warranty from the shop and im not paying until I take delivery.

pics for attention

Yes, been following the club for about a month now. Reading up on some of the Z's Pro's and Con's. Also Anyone pick up the New Escort Max2? I grabbed one still learning the App it Bluetooth's with. I know Cola on I26 is hot with State boys and I do a lot of travel to Ashville Area. figure I would grab one since the speedo on the Z is a crapshoot on what speed your really doing :driving: :) And...If anyone is selling a used exhaust in the area I might be interested if the price is right.

Welcome to the club then. I have the Escort Max as well, and it can be quite a money saver if you regularly exceed the speed limit. :D My Z's speedo is about 1mph off at 65mph according to the Max, and it's 2mph off at 100mph.

Palmetto Z Club?

Zensation 01-20-2015 01:50 PM

mainly meant the forum group and the other accessory car people from the area

djtodd 01-20-2015 02:47 PM

Actually Sumter has a pretty thriving car scene, thanks in no small part to Shaw.

We have a dozen or so members in Sumter. If you're up for it, we're having a cruise down the Charleston Saturday. I think 4 or 5 from Sumter are going. We'll be meeting up outside Cola and cruising down together.
