I have a magnetic black car with black wheels and black interior. For me the totally black kick plates was the way to go. Also, I don't recall Knight Rider having illuminated kick plates. Kit FTW!

The way that they connected the boot to the shifter seems like it is a little sloppy. You wouldn't need that much material on the boot to allow the shifter to shift down through all of the positions....
