2. it will make that center trim piece look very odd with nothing going under it?

Well the stock one is plastic, and translucent, so you don't have to open the cap...

Point being, much like a dipstick and PS/Brake fluid reservoirs, it's nice to be able to just eyeball fluid...

I have the manual trim surround now, so I've got the boot and everything. Essentially, any knob that is made the same as an MT knob should work. Just the internals will need to be different.
