I just installed the intake last Tuesday. The filter is not that wet yet to hold dirt nor to affect performance. Just a splashed of water on a certain side but not the whole filter.

I didn't remove them because I know water can get into those spots when it rains.
The filter is not that (soaking) wet though, just a splashed of water.
