To answer your question anyway - the seams are setup for the airbag to deploy though them. They have videos of airbag tests with the covers on you can find on youtube IIRC.

Thanks! In my personal experience I have never been able to get the driver side seat bottom part tight enough... probably because the seat itself is worn in a little now that I am close to 40k miles....

For me they fit a lot better on the passenger...
