Fast shifts are fine when you're redlining every gear at the track. Otherwise, it's just clutch in, shift, clutch out. Don't overlap those...

Absolutely it is bad if you're not patient with it. My 6th gear grinds coming from 5th sometimes, so I am especially careful with it coming from 2nd gear. As long as I wait for the RPMs to settle...
