BTW, there is a chart of color code abbreviations in one of the first sections of the FSM. Yep, some of them aren't exactly obvious.

The FSM has wiring diagrams with color codes. Probably easier than putting a meter on it.

As has been pointed out, run the resistor from the "hot" side of the lamp to ground.
