The front part of the tray has several bolts that...

The front part of the tray has several bolts that hold it up. Remove those bolts and the front part will swing out of the way so you can get to the filter and plug. See the FSM for drawings.

Put some coins in the bottom of the rubber boot...

Put some coins in the bottom of the rubber boot of the hatch spring. Very easy job. At least one DIY on this site.

Edit: And make sure the seal and the mating surface are clean and not sticking.
