Also, it shipped directly from Seibon. Liability is on the carrier. So from a purely $ perspective, Seibon has no incentive to ship hoods in, say, a fitted styrofoam box, like a goddamn vacuum...

Almost certainly. They only wrapped the front of the hood in a thin layer of cellophane and a plastic bag. Pretty obvious that something banged into it.
