Just an FYI... The "W" does NOT stand for weight....

Just an FYI... The "W" does NOT stand for weight. It actually stands for winter. The lower the number, the lower the cold temperature protection.

5W-30 and 5W-40 have the same cold or low end...

5W-30 and 5W-40 have the same cold or low end protection, but the 5W-40 has a higher temperature threshold than 5W-30. I just made that switch myself, so far no problems. I am using Motul Ester 5W-40.
