That's actually not the cover, but the diff casing that's finned. I haven't seen it used anywhere except in the ME spec Nissans.

dude you're in Kuwait, we have finned diffs for the Z's and G's from factory (and maybe even other cars). Not the diff cover but the diff housing itself is finned. Here's a pic on my G35 sedan. US...

Just an FYI, the oil cooler above circulates coolant as previously mentioned to warm the oil when it's cold and cool it down when it's hot. It's not very efficient though and a separate aftermarket...
