If it truly is a clear coat failure then your best option is to get it re-cleared. There is no substitute for your clear coat. So the body shop...

They do it here in Colorado too on the older cars (pre 2012 I think), I had to do it on my cars before the Z. Most likely operator error on that but those guys aren't really the top of class techs...

Check the cap o-ring for any small tears or folds. That's what usually causes a cap to fail. They are also pretty cheap too, I'm not sure if the Z's are as finicky as Honda's are, but I would go OEM.

Never hurts for that Nismo bumper. When I had to get my Evo fixed back in the day, my deductible was paid by me ordering a new wheel and carbon fiber hood. So things definitely can be flexible.

Make Sure you put some kind of sealant on it too, give you some kind of buffer between your paint and the elements. Wax would be too thin and burn off pretty quick if it's out in the sun every day.
