This is gonna be my first prime lens. Almost got the 50mm f1.8 but I thought it may make shooting indoors a bit difficult so I went 35mm.

Congrats! I'm patiently waiting for the III. Figure I can just rent a II if I need it before then.

true, it should be out by the end of next year is the latest i've been hearing/reading. i got it for a good price (new). hoping to sell it if i decide to upgrade for a menial loss and enjoy it for the year instead of just renting when i need it at $200/event. plus with the big porsche contract, i'd really like to use it at every shoot i do from now on (though it won't get here in time for this weekend's unfortunately). either i eat $200 a shoot or charge them $200 per shoot for equipment rental where i'd rather just rent a nice prime lens or something instead

Yeah, I've been tempted by some of the good deals I've seen on the IIs, but I'm trying to be strong! LOL

I'd recommend the Canon Pro9500 Mark II unless you want to print a lot of black and white. I haven't taken mine out of the box (got it essentially free with rebate on my wife's 60D) but I've had the i9900 a long time, and found it excellent. Even though I print rarely, my ink has never clogged, and replacing one color at a time is great.

Hope to see even better results when I start using my Spyder3Studio SR to calibrate the 9500.

So I have been researching and the Canon seems like a good choice. The Pro9500 MarkII is a little too much money. Im looking at the Pro9000 Mark II. It sounds pretty darn good. Retails for $500 and I found it on Amazon for $328 shipped
