This is gonna be my first prime lens. Almost got the 50mm f1.8 but I thought it may make shooting indoors a bit difficult so I went 35mm.

true, it should be out by the end of next year is the latest i've been hearing/reading. i got it for a good price (new). hoping to sell it if i decide to upgrade for a menial loss and enjoy it for the year instead of just renting when i need it at $200/event. plus with the big porsche contract, i'd really like to use it at every shoot i do from now on (though it won't get here in time for this weekend's unfortunately). either i eat $200 a shoot or charge them $200 per shoot for equipment rental where i'd rather just rent a nice prime lens or something instead

Yeah, I've been tempted by some of the good deals I've seen on the IIs, but I'm trying to be strong! LOL

GTHAUS 01-03-2012 09:21 AM

I'd recommend the Canon Pro9500 Mark II unless you want to print a lot of black and white. I haven't taken mine out of the box (got it essentially free with rebate on my wife's 60D) but I've had the i9900 a long time, and found it excellent. Even though I print rarely, my ink has never clogged, and replacing one color at a time is great.

Hope to see even better results when I start using my Spyder3Studio SR to calibrate the 9500.

So I have been researching and the Canon seems like a good choice. The Pro9500 MarkII is a little too much money. Im looking at the Pro9000 Mark II. It sounds pretty darn good. Retails for $500 and I found it on Amazon for $328 shipped

wilsonp 01-15-2012 01:09 PM

I'm embarrassed to say the Pro9000 is what I meant, the 9500 is the one for black and white.

So have you actually used this printer or you are still waiting to set it up?? Im pretty sure this is what Im gonna go with. Doing a little more research but just may order this by the end of the day.

HKYStormFront 01-22-2012 10:41 AM

hopefully you guys remember the photoshoot i did with the lowenbrau 962 back at thanksgiving? if not, the thread isn't far down in this section "porsche photoshoot nov '11". in that thread i stated that the 962 i was taking pictures of was the winningest race car ever... well, it is!

http://jpmcgphotography.smugmug.com/...IMG0120-XL.jpg

every medallion here^ represents an IMSA race victory

here's a link to the album from this month with the 993 and bad boys car, i just put them in there as well:

Porsche Photoshoot January '11 - JPMcG Photography

there's also a few detail shots for the Sunoco 917/30 race car which is the most powerful (almost 1600hp, ~1200lbs dry) race car ever made. in 1973 this car would do 0-200mph in about 10 seconds  i'll be finishing up the full shoot of it the weekend after the super bowl hopefully, along with a couple other show stopper cars.

Alchemy 01-22-2012 02:45 PM

^awesome shots Pat. Is that THE car they used in Bad Boys??

It's still in the box :)

Haven't had a chance to set it up yet. Given my experience with th i9900, I'm sure it will be good.

So awesome:tup:

HKYStormFront 01-23-2012 12:00 AM

ironically it's one of the least valuable cars in the collection, yet draws more attention from casual car enthusiasts. anyone into motorsports that's 40+ generally knows about the IMSA and CanAm cars and is therefore more interested in those...

HKYStormFront 02-07-2012 12:24 PM

here's a link to an article about what's going on with the collection and they use 7 of my pictures!

Nothing special, but some stuff from Cades Cove in November. The leaves had all fallen off the trees =\

http://www.parkerphotog.com/Other/Ca.../DSC4048-L.jpg
I wish I would have included all of the bridge/pathway in this shot.

And that is off the road going into Cade Cove.

HKYStormFront 02-10-2012 09:31 AM

i've heard cades cove is awesome, my old photography group goes there all the time, i've just never been able to go at the same time unfortunately :(

Parkerman 02-10-2012 09:50 AM

Went through on vacation in November. I was excited for the hope of leaves still being on the tree's as I had always went through during the summer growing up.

But there were no leaves sadly... And it also was on the edge of raining the whole time... it started right at the end. The deer shot is in the rain.

It is a beautiful place if you ever get the chance to go.

HKYStormFront 02-10-2012 09:51 AM

yea i could see the rain in the shot of the deer, adds to it imo, great shots man
