Purchased a BORLA ATAK exhaust from SS_firehawk and just wanted to pass on my experience for others to learn from.

I sent him $470 for mufflers to be shipped to my house...this is what I received.

Absolutely no packaging internal to the box, which caused the mufflers to puncture the box, scraping the tips and bending the exhaust hangers.


While I was able to bend the hangers back in place, this level of packaging is not acceptable, and the damage devalues the product significantly.

Not sure if you liaise with the seller first to work out the issue. It seem from the sale thread http://www.the370z.com/misc-items-sa...aust-sale.html, it was his father who shipped it. Either way, it was a poorly packaged job but it seem to me he was just the middleman. But I stand to be corrected.

You are correct, it was his father who shipped it.

Of course at the end of the day, if he's selling things on behalf of his dad, he owns responsibility for what is being shipped.

I'm to lazy to check where they were shipped from but I've shipped from Canada over the border to the states and both times customs opened my packages and switched the packaging around, untaped everything, pretty much made a mess of it. I doubt that's what happened here. Just sayin

Obviously a mistake here on the sellers Father or whom ever packed it.

I would expect an acknowledgment from the seller after seeing the pics that there was a definite problem

And to at least apologize for the condition and maybe talk the Dad about at least knocking something off the price since they are not in the condition before being shipped.

Very sad to see and hope it gets resolved

I live in Las Vegas, and am currently in AFG, father lives in Chicago. I was doing him a favor by throwing it up on the forum. I was not the seller, but a mediator. I asked and followed up regarding the install to ensure everything still lines up. It's a hanger of all things. If you weren't happy with it, returning money isn't an issue. I have stacks of that, my father doesn't. If this is because we have disagreements on topics within this forum, this is a low blow. Id rather you pm me for resolution if there was a problem, not smear my Sig like I'm some villian ripping people off with busted parts. Outside of petty arguements, I don't carry grudges because some forum member disagreed with me, but I see you do.

PM me if you want to put the childish crap behind us and move on.

I wanted to give you adequate time to respond. Your initial responsiveness gave me hope that we could resolve it privately, and you dropping off the map completely meant I felt the need to post this to ensure others that might buy from you would be aware.


Whether or not your father shipped it, you took my money and handled the sale. As far as I'm concerned this comes back to you, especially if folks that might buy from you in the future might receive something from your father as well.

If you had attempted to resolve this in reasonable way, I wouldn't be posting this. I had to pay out of pocket for access to tools to re-bend the hangers so that things would fit right, and I had to purchase a replacement muffler for the one with loose baffling, as I detailed in my PM's to you.

I'm apparently not allowed to post your PM's here due to forum privacy rules, but I'll say you were very helpful up until the last day I could file a PayPal claim...

so basically you just admitted that you dropped the ball on your end as well..sorry to see things go south for you, but honestly the best way to get your problems solved in these types of situations is to constantly be in contact with the person/company you purchase a product from no matter what your circumstances are.

Now your lying. I cleaned my email box last week after premium membership expired. After you installed it and saying it was fine, I assumed you were happy. You did not attempt to email me once. I'm not a Company, I'm not going to reach out for a survey of the sales process or what you thought of the product.I gave you my phone number, my fathers phone number, and my email. I also did not take your money, you sent it directly to his paypal. I still don't know how you "lost" anything. You bought something for half price and it works. the only issue was the bent hanger, anything else you claimed was not passed on to me or my Father. Hell, I don't even know what the time limit for paypal claims are. Stop playing the victim, your attempting to manipulate an audience. You have no case. I'm sorry the packaging was shitty, but it's not my job to make sure he packaged it right, only to find a buyer and try to make the transaction smooth. Just so you know, I did not get paid for this, I got no kickback, just a thank you. So much for trying to take care of this like normal people do.

Man can we close this thread... I hate seeing two members goin at it in front of the whole forum. Maybe zed and ss can somehow figure something out via email or pm. But since both sides of the story aren't completely clear, its probably best to not start a civil war on this thread

I did mention the loose baffling in a pm. Claiming i didnt is a blatant lie. I've forwarded to triples to confirm, since I can't post. He can confirm.


You also gave me no contact info. I have your parents email because I got it off PayPal, and your dad hasn't been helpful.


If you want to take no responsibility for arranging the sale, I'll change my thread title to recommending against doing business with your dad if that makes you happier :|

You should have contacted AK and exchanged PM's first. So that way if it was concluded that the seller shouldn't be dealt with anymore, it could have gone to the sticky thread. Now your just making SS_Firehawk look like the bad guy by ruining his reputation. What if he comes back to the states and decides he wants to sell his parts personally? Now he can't because people are going to fear being sent a "broken" and poorly packaged product. You guys need to stop acting like little kids and take this offline so people's reps arn't ruined.

Red, in reality, I owe you nothing, at best, an apology, which I refuse until you acknowledge that I've done nothing wrong. I kept communication until it was installed and everything was G2G. I've submitted my offer, I think it is more than reasonable. I received no benefit for the transaction, so either way you look at it, I'm going out of my way because I empathize with you regarding the packaging. If I had known, I would have advised him of a better method. This whole ordeal blindsided me and is absolutely unfair, unethical, and disappointing with how you went about it. I thought you were better than this.
