AP 6Pot/4Pot BBK: Comp. Grey

4 Attachment(s)
I am changing classes with my track car and can no longer run the big brakes. I've owned these for less than one year, they have 6-30 minute races and probably 10 test days on them. They were rebuilt before the last race with AP rebuild kits

Brakes are amazing, absolutely no fade, even without ducting. I have a few different pad combinations which will be included as well.

Kit is as follows:

AP Racing 6 Pot caliper- Competition grey, slotted 2 piece rotors
AP Racing 4 Pot caliper- Competition grey, slotted 2 piece rotors
Goodridge ss brake lines

Pads: 1 set used Mintex extreme (Came with brakes)
1 set (barely) used Raybestos ST 47 front, ST 43 rear ($295 each)
2 set front used Carbotech XP20 (~$340 each)
1 set new/ 1 set used rear carbotech XP10 (~300 each)

Condition:

Calipers are in perfect mechanical condition, and were just rebuilt. Front calipers have some discoloring from heat but this will happen with any caliper that is used on the track. Rear calipers appear brand new.

Front rotor discs are nearing the end of their lives but should be good for a few more track weekends depending on how hard they are driven. I was looking to replace them after the next race weekend at Laguna. Rear rotors are perfect.

I will get photos up on Sunday. The car is in the garage right now and I am too busy until then to go over and snap photos. Brakes will be off the car on 5/15.

Asking $3500, buyer pays shipping.

awesome price, GLWS!

jr1 05-03-2012 12:07 PM

Thanks! I'll be sorry to see them go, just can't afford to make the car competitive in STO. It'll be a different car without those brakes.

TerribleONE 05-03-2012 12:09 PM

Nice!! If i didnt just buy some akebonos id swoop these up. GLWS

martin82 05-03-2012 12:39 PM

Do the stock 19" rays clear them? Also, will an enkei pf01 18" clear at all or not even close (ideas?)

jr1 05-03-2012 12:47 PM

19"s yes. Enkei 18" I would think they would. I am running 18" Enkei NT03+m and have plenty of clearance. Stillen does have a little template you can download and use to check though.

Any pics?

jr1 05-03-2012 06:23 PM

Pics will be up Sunday. If you need pics before then, PM me your email and I will send some from my phone, though I don't feel comfortable posting them because they are not completely current.

travisjb 05-03-2012 06:41 PM

I understand why you are doing this if you have a points system like NASA and are trying to stay PTA/TTA... but keep in mind you may want to go to the next level up like NASA ST1/TTS, in which case you'll want these puppies back!

Any event, GLWS! awesome price

jr1 05-03-2012 07:36 PM

Yeah, it's hard to go back. I'm running SCCA and am trying to build a nationally competitive car. Car does alright regionally in STO but without a built motor and a few other high dollar items, it will get slaughtered at nationals.

I know I'll regret parting with these but it's the only thing that makes sense for this season.

Mike 05-04-2012 12:32 AM

does SCCA allow cooling ducts? You might be ok with the sport brakes if they do.

Yeah, I can run ducting in T2. The sport brakes should be fine, it will just be a different experience. It's a nice confidence boost being able to outbrake 90% of the other people on track.

I know, I think that late breaking is the only reason I am fast sometimes. (I run Stoptech Trophy's)

jr1 05-04-2012 09:19 PM

Stoptech's are also great brakes. There were definitely times when these brakes were the only reason I was able to make a pass; running even through the entire track and then being able to dive bomb someone with lesser braking made these worth it the first race of the season.

ChrisSlicks 05-04-2012 09:47 PM

The AP's have been very good to me. GLWS, awesome deal!

Racers pay attention, waxers stay clear :)

jr1 05-04-2012 11:58 PM

I gotta agree with you on that one Chris. These brakes are all business and would be a waste on a car that didn't see the track.

That being said, any one who is looking to consistently bring down lap times and have confident braking lap after lap, there are few packages that compare to this one.

martin82 05-05-2012 04:01 AM

damn, I just got coils, sways, tires. Would love to pick this u, but I don't have funds for mods right now!! Layaway? LOL

Just sell a kidney, that's how I got the money for the kit.

What's a kidney run for these days? Like 650k or so.

jr1 05-06-2012 09:23 PM

Pics added

jr1 05-07-2012 10:17 AM

Anyone who is seriously tracking their car should consider this package. These brakes will chop MULTIPLE SECONDS off your lap times.

theaudir8fan 05-07-2012 11:11 AM

HOLLY, that's some serious colour fade, i thought the fronts were yellow before actually enlarging the pic  Still GLWS

jr1 05-07-2012 12:00 PM

Yeah, did experience some color fade on the fronts. I'll take that over brake fade though any day.

Could definitely be refinished, I just never bothered as they were on a race car.

ChrisSlicks 05-07-2012 09:15 PM

The patina just indicates the brakes were being used as designed, if you see a BBK on a car and they are all shiny then you know it's all show. :)

Mine look exactly the same way, it is a badge of honor.

It's good to hear you're using your brakes to their full potential. It's always upsetting to see racing calipers that look like they never got hot enough to even bed a pad.

Someone on the East Coast needs to pick these up so they can keep up with Chris (in the braking zones at least).

jr1 05-08-2012 05:17 PM

I'll share my fuel starvation solution with whoever picks up these brakes.

Damn, I'd almost buy these as a spare set just for that! Had fuel starve in a wicked way these last two days at Summit Point Main.

jr1 05-09-2012 01:29 PM

No one is being limited on the track by their stock brakes? Or fuel starve?

jr1 05-10-2012 08:37 PM

I need these gone. Car won't be run again until 6/7, and will run in T2. these brakes are just collecting dust at this point. Any offers?

Mike 05-10-2012 10:48 PM

I kind of wish I didn't have my stoptechs, these are less than half the price I paid!

Spohn?????

jr1 05-11-2012 10:56 PM

Yeah, I tried to price them to sell. Honestly I thought they'd be gone by now. I guess anyone who was pushing their car hard enough to actually need this upgrade, already made the switch.

Keep the offers coming guys, were getting closer.

jr1 05-15-2012 09:32 AM

Still available, you won't find a better price on these brakes.

jr1 05-18-2012 12:04 AM

No one needs some bulletproof brakes for their track build?

Accepting offers.

jr1 05-22-2012 09:20 PM

Still for sale.
I spoke to a very reputable powder coater in my area and was quoted $600 to do all four. If the finish is bothering you, this is a great way to get incredible brakes at an incredible price in the color of your choice.

mdxj 05-22-2012 10:15 PM

I'm not positive on the price, as I didn have them long enough to need to replace any rotors. To be clear though, the front discs are the only parts that need replacing. The rear rotors are fine and the front rotor hats are okay too.

PM me for more info.

ChrisSlicks 05-23-2012 09:38 PM

You need new front rotor rings and a front hardware kit. Replacing the rings is easy, just need about 45 minutes per rotor and an accurate inch-lb torque wrench.

The heat stress checking on the rotors isn't that bad, I ran mine for several events in that condition before eventually replacing them over the winter. It's not really a concern until the cracks spread all the way to the outer edge.

Good to know. I guess those rotors should be okay for a while. Thanks for there help Chris.
