How much does it weigh? A friend is looking to build a little racecar and thinking of motor ideas.

1slow370 05-10-2010 08:20 PM

no i mean the electronics wont, you'd be better off using the HR stuff the manifolds would be pretty much the same ish but the wiring and ecu will be useless to you. not syaing you can't try but the harness has all the vvel stuff in it and the ecu is terribly vehicle specific.

SE 05-10-2010 11:27 PM

How much for the complete bottom end by itself?

i have a vq37vhr and tranny waiting for these parts to do a swap... so yeah... anyway how much for that stuff minus the ecu then? i can arrange to have the stuff picked up at your door/driveway so long as you can box the stuff up good.

1slow370 05-12-2010 04:12 AM

you might need an ipdm and the harness for that too in that case. eather way good luck with that

what's an ipdm?

1slow370 05-13-2010 04:04 AM

Intelligent Power Distribution Module. Dude Fair warning here and i don't mean to sound like a ****, this isn't a honda civic, the wiring is not all the same for 10 years of cars, it's a totally different beast than a 350. you are more than likely going to have to install the entire electrical system from a crashed 370 in your car to make this work, along with your entire 350z electrical system. By nature can bus systems link all the wiring through the various components so not having a few parts in there is going to cause havoc. i think there is even a seperate box that controls the vvel you'll need that, the gauge cluster handles the speed signal so you might need that, not sure about the triple gauge cluster, you are going to lose traction control as the reluctor wheels on the stub shafts and hubs are different from a 350z, and the 370z expects you to have the steering angle sensor, yaw sensor, and the vehicles abs unit all working. Thats why no one has done the swap yet. If you pull it off major props. r390 you got an entire car you can sell him? maybe the one the motor came out of?

Archaismic 05-13-2010 08:29 AM

ahh yes... i know it's insane... i just always heard then called PDs... power distributors... but whatever. if it doesn't work without too much retardation i can always just put the vq35 back in. i have the motor(0 miles) and tranny(6k miles) for about 3500 including shipping so i figure worst case if i get the rest i can sell it to someone that needs a vq37 :: shrug ::

I really think you guys should take this to a technical discussion on another thread and please do not hi-jack my thread.

OK, I really seen no need for you to mention this in my thread, essentially might be unintentional but you are telling people you have a motor for sale ?

Why did you post this on here ?

Trips 05-13-2010 10:05 AM

Please keep this Thread on Topic. Thanks

bump...........

1slow370 07-01-2010 04:40 AM

fyi the vvel actuators are useless now don't want someone to be angry after buying the heads or the actuators and having it not work right, they are a one install and done thing and need to be calibrated to the car they are going in. and if you try to recalibrate them(say you bought the heads and actuators) you throw off the angle on the vvel so it still won't work. all the cam timing actuators would still be good though you would just have to throw out everything vvel related.

Edit: also they are good prices i'm sure at most of it will sell

1slow370 07-01-2010 10:57 PM

someone should buy his bottom end for use as a core on a shortblock build for F/I use the new wiseco low compression pistons that are available now, new bearings and rings and some GTM rods and you would have yourself the perfect boost block with your original numbers matching block for converting it back to stock.

I may be interested in the short block, since I possibly hydrolocked my car and the dealership is suspecting that's what will need to be replaced. I'll let you know.
