It definitely wouldn’t be a Chevy!!!!

zaimer 11-24-2014 01:37 PM

^ Agreed.:icon17: I wouldn't buy that even if I had the money. I don't care how fast it is..it is still a Corvette.. :ugh2:

njobe89 11-24-2014 01:54 PM

please do enlighten... what would you get with 80k that could rival that corvette.

Boosted Z? lol

I do like those C7s though, one day ill boost one.

njobe89 11-24-2014 02:08 PM

pretty sure a boosted Z wouldn't keep up with it... maybe 1% of them could?

VCuomo 11-24-2014 02:11 PM

If you're gonna mod the Z, then it's only fair to compare it against a modded Z06/Z07. I think the Corvette wins again...

And gotta love this comment: "It's basically Chuck Norris. Only better looking." :D

GTR would.. And you all know my theory about turbos.. Only thing better than having a turbo in your car, is having TWO :happydance:

As for now, one turbo is good enough after seeing Boosted Performances kit on a 350z make almost 1000whp.

For just about every car I've owned, I've joined some kind of online enthusiast forum. Without fail, on each one of these forums, you get responses like these. "Ya, it's the best all around car for the money, but it's still a Mustang, Camaro, Dodge, whatever derrrr..." This coming from Sentra or Civic owners, mind you.

Yea, you can boost the Z for less money. However, we all know there's a high risk factor that needs to be added to your calculations.

How the hell can you sneeze at a 625hp, track-ready monster? I don't know. I'd take it, though.

My bolt on and tuned Z could have kept up with it :tiphat:

I just wished they had done something different with rear. looks too much camaro and too little vette.

Im pretty sure the Nismo GTR would most likely smash it on a road course.
They come 600hp out the box:yum:

Not for $80,000 they don't.

And isn't that what all the GTR fanboys are always bragging about? "Yeah, your 458 Italia/Aventador/Enzo/Koenigsegg (insert any vastly superior car here) might look good but my GTR is just as fast for less than half the money..."

This is a Chevrolet that's actually worth owning, and it's an absolute beast. When's the last time that's happened?

gbrettin 11-24-2014 04:26 PM

I wouldn't mind picking up a Z06 engine, tranny, and electronics and dumping it into my Z.

Me personally.... I would buy this Vette over the GTR any day.
Actually.... I would never buy a GTR..... Not my cup of tea for looks.
Sorry brothers in uniform. The GTR is a family car on steroids. Way too big in my opinion.

Luciano13 11-24-2014 06:47 PM

Btw.....

If no one knows.....
This is.quite the rocket too
Edit: that 707hp is true numbers. I went to Detroit this summer to the Chrysler museum in Detroit, and a senior, i would compare this gentleman, as the Chrysler's Carol Shelby. This was prior to true numbers.and.vehicle.actually released to public. Full race adjustable suspension with that crazy hp!!
Yeah the Vette is legendary... But.if you're a power American Muscle car guy...
This Hell Cat will be worth 1,000,000 times more than that new Vette. Just like trying to buy a true 70' Hemi Challenger vs a 70' Vette.... Anyone watch Classic car auctions??? End of story

The seats for that car looks terrible... Would take a vette over that.

czirrfb 11-24-2014 07:25 PM

Cant argue with the Vette. The price/performance ratio is amazing. You are getting a super car for under 100k the GTR is the only other car i can think of that does that. But oyu cant escape 2 realities.

-Gas mileage is horrible. But I dont think you would care about that if you buy that car.

-Its american. To alot of people including myself american cars just feel "cheap" and are not as appealing.

Im pretty sure that stock for stock that vette could take out a GTR but I bet the GTR is a much better car to own, and it looks alot better (in my opinion)

Buy a 4 wheel DD for traffic and bad weather and then a 370z for the better drives in nice weather.

What's the point of having an $80k corvette that you would not drive in rush hour traffic ( want no dents!!) or in snowy weather (want to salt or dents!).

Exactly. I don't care how big of a "deal" the car is, it is still a Chevy Corvette. Most American cars just don't spark my interest. :stirthepot:

What's the point of owning any 80 thousand$ or any expensive car? I think your missing the point.
Back to topic. This is a great looking car. I think the hard core Vette enthusiasts are disappointed with the rear look of the car,but I myself think the car as a whole, looks great. And you get some muscle to back it up! All boils down to preference.

czirrfb 11-24-2014 09:13 PM

If we are being totally unbiased here I have a soft spot for Audi's lol I think they are beautiful cars! But I dont trust german cars. But I wouldnt mind owning a sweet audi lol

The Audi is the superior looking vehicle of these two.

JC-Nismo 11-25-2014 12:19 AM

C7 ZO6 is hands down the dollar for dollar powerhouse sports car with the GTR at a close second place. ^^^ I might get roasted for this, but I think a nicely modded Nismo Z looks just as good as the Audi R8. My Nismo is modded, but I saw a stock black one today in GA and you really just don't realize how great these cars look on the outside of your own until you see one in which I rarely do on the streets.

If you like it buy. Who cares what others think. For me its a nice car. Its a Vette with all that comes with it - mainly quality issues and the fact that its not an exotic name plate.

Few Vette's maintain any real value over time. This is a car you buy enjoy and sell quickly. Its a Vette and nothing else. Frankly its always better to buy a Vette used.
I still cant get into the Camaro-ized rear end. Way to cheap looking. The heritage of the Vette's appearance has been lost. Sad. Keep thinking it will 'transform' itself and contact NASA lol!

Id take the GTR/R8 or something else over this. As far as track cars go its not the best out there and when you get into this price range spending just a little more opens some intriguing doors. Id take used GT3 or GT3RS for the track any day over this. Smaller powerful and a challenge to drive. Great support for them as well.

njobe89 11-25-2014 09:53 AM

i don't get people saying "it's American." so none of ya'll would want a old muscle car?

Been there done that - very much over it. Size these days is simply a waste. Given the materials science advances and smaller light weight powerplants etc. Big is well...more of a statement than any type of advantage.

I don't understand that conception. If anything, the paint quality on the GT-R alone would turn me off. A car that costs $110k shouldn't have worse orange peel than a $15k Ford Fiesta.:ugh2:

For the most part paint quality in the auto world is terrible. Let me send you some pics of a friends Ferrari F12 out of the factory. Peel doesnt begin to describe it.

Ive yet to see many production machines here or in the US if im visiting that dont have peel. The worst paint on any car Ive owned was on my 370. My GTi put that to shame in terms of depth and peel. Loved my Z but the paint was a battle from day 1. I think the GTi was made on 'good' paint day. Ive seen other that were total crap of course.

Not the way they do them in Atlanta............ I'll pass. The only older car I would love to have is a Grand National GNX.
