no, it's more common than you think. this is just a little more noticed because it was a collaboration. more often, you see rebadged vehicles that are the exact same thing, but were basically the IP of one of the companies.

mazda tribute and ford escape?

Mazda and Ford are the same company though. Like the Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion

Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe would be another

The other company's that do it a lot are Acura and Honda. Nissan and Infinite of course. Even Jeep and Mercedes were sharing a lot

The Saleen & Ford stuff is more about a company working to improve or provide aftermarket parts through the dealership.
Like others have said, basically look around and a lot of companies share vehicle designs to cut cost. One I remember is the Honda Pilot & Isuzu Rodeo.

Incorrect, Ford only has a 3-5% stake in Mazda, it use to be around 15% I believe but they have slowly been selling off what they own in Mazda.

Yeah, Ford has been getting rid of a lot of its stake in other companies. Like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Mazda, etc.
I think they are trying to focus on its own brands more and unify its line into a world contender.

The other big one is Toyota taking BMW engines and BMW taking Toyota batteries

Sibze 05-18-2012 02:24 PM

Seems like Toyota is all for collaboration though and why not! Saves them money

They should collaborate and release a Toyota car was some balls.

But this Silvia replacement will not occur until there is accounted reasoning for sales based on the BRZ/FRS.

Basically, if BRZ/FRS is a flop, there will be no S16 or AP3.

Is that how you feel about your Subbie? I didn't like the interior because it felt cheap to me.

The new Silvia has been rumored for what......50 years now...:shakes head:

I wouldn't put any stock in any of the rumors currently out there.

And as much as I want a new Silvia, I won't buy the hype and won't believe it until I test drive it at a Nissan lot.

the WRX interior is pretty cheap, i'll give you that. exterior wise, i'm perfectly fine with it though. it's a car that makes me happy lol

still wouldn't trade the WRX for any other car right now.

I think most WRX owners really love their cars. Unfortunately, I haven't had time behind the wheel of one. Legacy and Impreza sedans are nice.
