That's fine with me if they don't want the car, as long as they make enough for me to get one.

All they haters should get together and come up with a consistent story. So far we have

1. It's too expensive -- for only 5k more you can get a bare-bones 5.0
2. It's too cheap -- every teenager will have one
3. It'll be too popular -- see (2)
3. It's too niche -- no one will want one

Any I missed? :tiphat:

Both are "officially" becoming available at the end of April. i can't speak for the FRS, but the first BRZs are supposed to be at the dealers starting in May.

I went by the Toyota dealership today and asked about the FR-S. They don't even have any slated to come to them yet. For their list the release is still 'Late Spring'. :ugh2: Haven't had a chance to get to the Subie dealer yet.

Price is going to drop like a rock after the hype of the car goes down

I really like it at $25K OTD but anymore than that I would rather have a used 370Z

Dealership picture eh. Looks like me seeing one on the road the other day wasn't a total fluke.

Again, it's okay looking, but it warms me about as much as a Genesis, which means luke warm. In the looks department, the Z, and hell for that matter, the Camaro and Mustang blow this away. It's not "bad" looking, it's just not good looking either. Scale of 0 -10, this gets a 5 to 6. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Performance is another animal, and one I'm sure we'll all hear a lot about shortly.

FRS manual MSRP is almost $25k, I bet BRZ will be more expensive.
FRS does not have LSD but BRZ has LSD with more option.

I would rather go with WRX...

BRZ need to come out with a F/I like WRX.

Isamu 04-03-2012 12:18 PM

they are trying to seperate the wrx line from this, its why you won't see this in AWD either

That's not a particularly flattering picture. It's not a good angle and there's no real sense of scale. In the picture it looks chunky -- like its the size of a two door Impreza or something.

To put it into perspective its (in inches) 165.4(L) x 69.7(W) x 50(H) That about 8 inches longer than a Miata, about two inches wider and about an inch taller. It's shorter than the 370z couple by about 2 inches and the roof line is about two inches lower.

I didn't realize this car was so small!!!

NeoSHNIK 04-03-2012 01:40 PM

I keep seeing different numbers for the length of the car...
motortrend says the FR-S is 166.7 inches long (2013 Scion FR-S First Drive - Motor Trend)
Scion's official specs says its 166.9 inches (Scion FR-S | FR-S Features | Specifications | Scion.com)
Subaru-BRZ official spec states 166.7 in (2013 Subaru BRZ)
Finally the C&D says the BRZ is 166.9 inches long (2013 Subaru BRZ Sports Car First Drive – Review – Car and Driver)

Not sure who to believe, but its probably not 165.4...
